I don't care how much money Apple makes or Android OEMs make.
I am simply not concerned with that.
If I am being denied certain basic features for years or simplest things like design change which are readily available on other operating systems, I am switching.

It's all because apple advertises a lifestyle ,a culture not a phone or OS
But Xiaomi , Samsung and all other android OEMs just advertise their products like hey our phone have 3x 50Mp cameras , QHD screen , etc
And now take a look at apple advertisment videos they're showing a lifestyle

Fixed focal ... moreI think the issue might come from the fact that you can numerically zoom, and in which case, it switches from the Wide to the Telephoto, hence people have associated zoom with Telephoto.
Add to that the issue that in case of compact camera, people also associated zoom with magnification too.
Plus when talking about binocular, we often say things such as "powerful zoom", which for a pro mean it has a deep focal length range, but for most people it might simply have meant that it can magnify by a lot.
I think it is a combination of multiple things like that who are to blame.

Android OEMs need to put all they can to sell.
While Apple knows sales and money earned will be what they want without 10% of the efforts done by android OEMs.
Let's suppose Apple decides to make an Iphone 13c that is basically the iphone Xr but with shinny plastic back (like 5c) instead of glass and cpu A15. All rest same like HD screen, single 1/2.6" cam, less than 2800mAh.
And charges $600 in USA while €750 in Europe and $1100 in poor countries (Apple stuff always costs more in the called 3rd World).
This device would easily sell more than 50 million units.

Not mentioned is this article, Apple has also recently patented with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) an absolutely amazing design adjustment achievement, something that would really thrill the iCheeep - a redesign of the notch.

It is based on our eyes. The RGGB pattern.
Other sensor types like Foveon, WRGB, RYYB, CYGM and RGBE have way more downsides than RGGB/Bayer.
If you do not want to lose details, do not use phone for photos.
- Cameras use glass lenses, phones use plastic because are lighter, thinner and cheaper. Please do not believe those 2 guys that soon may show up here to say plastic lenses are as good as glass ones, because it is lie.
- plastic lenses used by phones cant resolve even 5MP. This is why there are so much sharpening (google loves to do it) to fool you to believe it is all details.
- Do not use JPEG. Use RAW, edit and apply low NR.
This is why photos of all phones look poor when viewed on high quality screens used to edit images. Something that do not apply to cameras from early digital days.
