There exist no phone or brand that is not there in India. Any brand other than HMD provides much better value of money in this extremely price sensitive market.
That's why we have exclusive brand on different websites. It reduces cost of physical stores and exclusive deal with any website mean you'll (as a manufacturer) get more share of profit.
Not only this, manufacturers are able to control prices of their older smartphone, too. Manufacturer also sells it's "selling rights" to a particular seller only. Mi 10T Pro (which I recently bought) has not got a single rupee discount on any website even after 10 months. Because no other sellers are allowed to sell that smartphone.

There is absolutely nothing "shady" in it.
And it is not mandatory to root your device to flash ROMs.

Every ... moreFirstly, no offline store sell Nokia here in India. And those who do, simply buy it from Amazon charges extra for their commission, then sell it to customer.
The offline markets of India is ruled Oppo/vivo/Tecno/Infinix
Secondly, every brand in our country has an exclusive partner. Eg. OnePlus is sold only via Amazon or its offline stores, Poco is sold only via Flipkart (no offline stores), Realme is sold only via Flipkart and Nokia is sold only via Amazon. Redmi is the only brand that's sold on every platform. OPPO/vivo/Tecno/Infinix targets ofline markets and are over expensive via online channels
Apart from this, these brands won't let any other website sell their product.
So, yes, Amazon is the ONLY website selling HMD in India.
P.S: AliExpress doesn't ship to India and eBay costs way more because of insane custom duties

They could have just priced it at $600 but with a better processor like SD870. A phone with SD480 may not be a slow phone today but after two years with all those OS updates watch it slow down to the point of lag. A better processor would have avoid that

Just because he got a defective product he is mad and will write bad things about the brand all over the internet. I bought like three or four Nokia phones in the last couple of years and all of them are still working

Actually they last, cause they are build to last, and i do not see why would anyone flash cusome ROM's from unknown sources these days, android is already a not that safe of a platform to start with, to have root acces is even worse, as your device is suddently having no security whatsoever plus some trojans included in software here and there, have fun!

hmm, 28 Jul 2021People who buy these rugged phones are not buying it cause ... moreMan i know its arugged phone but rugged phone will stay healthy from outside for a very long time compared to a regular bar phone where you need to buy cover or book case and a screen protector.
4 years of updates means it will remains healthy from inside too.
No freezing, no bugging or restarting on ts own or problems with botloading etc.
I am glad this phone is exactly like it is.
And i am not only one.
Mayny of my customers will love this over Xcover by samsung which got 2 updates barely no disk space tiny battery and no GG Victus.

Which features offers Ulefone or Oukitell which this phone dont have???
Its a rugged phone same like them with pure android without any stupid UI which cost lot of disk space and adds a lot of add ons and apps which cost ram and cant be deleted.
This phone will get latest android it was already said that.
Your so desired geeks loves updates same way as rugged phone.
Brand managers on construction sites for example would need phones like this becase having rugged phone means its durable but constantly updating means it will be halthy from inside too not only outside.
And those people like on construction site, iremens, builders, truck drivers etc will love a phone which is perfectly healthy for more than just 2 years.

... moreMan to be honest with you in my country in Slovakia i run a phone shop company known as Dates Mobile with 40 stores among my country Slovakia and 10 among Czech republic or Czechia if you like. We sells like 50 brands of phones including Nokias plenty of phone accesorize and many else items or good relevant to phones and tablets like chargers car chargers cables smartwatches covers protectors etc.
Many of our customers loves Nokias even today and these phones selling pretty well every single day.
I understand your feeling but your bad reputation i mean experience is just your experience and statement or claims.
I cant say that because customer reviews and satisfaction with Nokia brand wont let me lie and tell something which is not true.

Snapdragon 480!!! Nokia working so hard to become flop again. You promise for 4 years updates. I doubt that if this processor can be useful for over 2 years. Especially in this price range. A big FLOP.

So, basically you want me host a party because every damn component of my "CHEAP Chinese knockoff" failed and not some more expensive phone?
And if this kind of mistake is done by Apple or Samsung in future, then they will provide satisfactory repairs or replacement just like they did in the past.
On the other hand, this HMD was pressurized to accept that their phone had flaws and yet this shameless brand wasn't able to provide satisfactory fixes
