Ahhh knew it. Knew ppl would start screeming G I V E U S U P D A T E S. Listen kids. U see in my country. Legit no one knows how to do sht on mobile execot for calling messaging and maybe installing some app. So why are u all screeming about updates. 2 years is enough tbh. Ik many ppl keep it for lots of year but updates can actually affect ur perfomance. Also when u update the whole ui the whole skin theme or whatever changes and it is hard to get used to it again. And 2 years is actually the average globally for how much ppl use it. And they officially changed it and now its 2 years

The Edge 20 looks the nicest of the bunch, but 128GB storage without SD card support? What were they thinking? Even a low-end mid tier phone like the Galaxy A52 has a 256GB option.

Vishal J, 30 Jul 2021Even if their revised statement says they'll provide 2... moreYes. After-sales service is really pathetic with Motorola. They will sell you the phone just to abandon any kind of support after that. "The phone has a problem ? Just get another phone" appears to be their solution
They will go to great extent to rather have the customer buy a new phone than to repair or update it. Sometimes they discontinue the spares way before the period of a time a user keeps their phone, so out of lack of options, they are forced to get another phone
I used to be a huge fan of Motorola and bought many of their phones but every time I would visit the service center for any issue, there would hardly be one single satisfactory solution to that. They be acting like "yeah alright, look we don't really care"
It would sound unbelievable, but once the guys at an authorised Motorola service center tried to scam me by putting a used and old battery when I visited the place to get the battery of my phone replaced. I caught them red handed and they were like "but hey, it's an original Motorola battery (yeah, it is heavily used and trash) but it is an original one, nonetheless and we advise you to unlock your phone with all your personal data in it and leave it with us for as long as we would like to, just so that we can make sure everything works okay after the battery replacement" (a process that takes hardly 20 minutes)
That was the last straw. I decided to never buy trash Motorola phones again. They were better off being an American company

Even if their revised statement says they'll provide 2 or 5 years of update, Moto is I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-Y slow and lazy in providing updates.
For example: my Moto One Action (with clean Android One OS) bought in 2019 was/is promised 2 OS updates.
I got Android 10 somewhere at the end of 2019. They are yet to even announce when they'll seed Android 11!
Just have a look at the amount of disgusted Moto users on their support forums. They only want your money.

Danny301, 30 Jul 2021Including security updates? No those do not affect the performance a lot. The OS updates do. My flagship Android phone was very quick when I first bought it but after two OS updates it would run like a mid-ranger at best. After the degraded battery it began to lag and get stuck very often so, but maybe it is mainly the software since the phone is still a tortoise after a changed battery

Danny301, 30 Jul 2021I was liking it until: "Interestingly Motorola will... moreBy the way, is this not the defacto flagship line? I can almost accept the update policy for the G lines, if they can extend it for the Edge lines. Some people will change their phones often so there could be a line for that. For those who like to keep their phone longer, then there ought to be a line for that. Still, there's reasonable concern about e-wastes that need to be addressed and the easiest way is extending the useful life of electronic devices.

I was liking it until:
"Interestingly Motorola will bring only one Android version update and just two years of software support. The reasoning on Moto’s side is that most users don’t keep their phones for more than two years though that is certainly a controversial statement and behind the curve compared to other smartphone brands".
That's just BS and as much as I hate it, I think it's time for regulation for longer support. We have enough e-wastes as it is. Don't want to do more than one version update? I can live with that, but software support should last longer. Would a year per $100 sound reasonable? $300? You get 3 years support. $500? You get 5. I've found Poetic cases to provide excellent protection.
