[deleted post]Oh and one more thing, it's funny you call me "Android hater" when I was literally praising Google (who is an Android author if you don't know that yet) and saying their software processing was super beneficial and was a prime example how software side of things is also very important, not just sensors and lenses. And here you are calling me an Android hater. LOL?
It's like you don't even understand what you read, you just have to constantly be in my face like an absolute bully that you are.

Anonymous, 03 Aug 2021I don't trust Google with this processor. They will ha... morehave you by any chance read about apple macs having apps and downloads tracking baked right in since "Big Sur"?
macbooks literally tell apple which apps are opened at what time, which "files" are downloaded from the internet on a macbook. (there was also an incident, where macs communicate with apple servers while opening apps, and once the apple server failed... which caused apps to load ultra slowly like a minute or 2.)
and if they can do that in macbook, they sure are doing much more in iphone which is closed proprietary system which means we don't get to see what they are doing.
on the other hand, android is open source, even if google "baked into the chip tracking", we should be easily able to see it.
so... your point? apple is god because i don't know what shit its pulling while google is bad because it open?
also 0 google drive hacks more than one icloud hacks and leaks (remember fappening?)
seems to me like google is more open AND secure

[deleted post]Triggered? Funny you say that when I'm here, super happy with my 3 years old (and counting) iPhone XR and I dare saying to the world using an iPhone is actually a really good experience and here you are always all angry and red in the face, venting literal steam through your ears because I dare to still use such old device today and I'm happy with its performance lol.
So, who's triggered again?

Anonymous, 03 Aug 2021Google's "super resolution zoom" was just a ... moreYou're totally wrong, my dude.
My Pixel 4 resolves complex patterns better when I use digital zoom or night sight instead of normal shooting mode. I checked and confirmed this thru both jpeg and raw level observation. A photo becomes sharper and less noisy too, but most importantly moires or false patterns in distant objects are also reduced, suggesting the bayer pattern is cancelled out therefore super res frame merging gets its job done. This is the case in the majority of the photos I have seen from Pixel 3, Pixel 4 and Pixel 5 series on the internet, even tho there are some patterns the algo works better on than the others.
I am sorry about your experience with Pixel 3a, but please do not act like your opinion represents experiences of all Pixel owners. I'm happy with the results and so are most others.

"Google claims it will make the Pixel 6 the fastest, smartest and most secure Pixel phone yet."
would be easy to beat since their last flagship was a s765 that is underclocked to s730 level .

Not feeling the pro because of the shiny, very scuffable frame, edged screen and the bigger forehead above the visor, not to mention the arm and leg price point, but the orange and green regular sized pixel are calling out to me. I hope it's not like a $1000 entry price for a very small battery capacity. Google needs to get the word out and start at an attainable price to draw consumers.

Anonymous, 02 Aug 2021Even worse if you buy from another country. Import taxes ... moreThat's not the problem for me, since it comes from a European union country I won't need to pay taxes. The problem is the way you buy it because you need to find someone to buy it for you in Germany and pay them send it to you.

Anonymous, 03 Aug 2021Google's "super resolution zoom" was just a ... more"though in extreme low light conditions it's theoretically just sqrt(sqrt(2)) = 1.19x due to read noise"
I stand corrected. In extreme low light conditions it could be still 1.4x because 1.4x zoom uses 50% as many pixels (reduces read noise). This should compensate for the increase in read noise that is due to capturing twice as many frames.

Why does google release its phones so late in the year in october? By the time the phones are released other companies' flagships will have had enough time to make money and will be sold ona discount to compete with pixels, thereby affecting pixel sales.
This is why samsung releases its phones as early as possible in the year....in order to make as much money as possible before other flagships arrive...and when other flagships arrive it can discount its phone and take on them.

OhNom, 03 Aug 2021Yes, if you keep the Super Res Zoom it should comfortably r... moreGoogle's "super resolution zoom" was just a marketing stunt. I have a Pixel 3a. There's basically no advantage over traditional digital zoom. It's occasionally worse than traditional digital zoom as it produces wrong detail due to machine learning. Some people think that Google's zoom works, if the result looks better than a 1x crop. But that's wrong and a common misunderstanding. Even traditional digital zoom can lead to better results than a crop by applying less spatial noise reduction or by adjusting the exposure. Google's zoom can lead to slightly more detail in low light conditions because it combines more frames when you zoom. This improves the signal to noise ratio. Combining twice as many frames can theoretically give you sqrt(2)= 1.4x lossless zoom in low light conditions, though in extreme low light conditions it's theoretically just sqrt(sqrt(2)) = 1.19x due to read noise. In perfect light conditions there is basically no advantage when you compare the result with a properly exposed single frame dng file or when you compare the zoom result with a Nexus 5x or iPhone 12 (even though they are equivalent to 26mm whereas Pixel 2 - Pixel 5 are equivalent to 27mm).

imx555/557... moreThat's wrong. 12200000 * (1.7 micrometers)² = 35.3mm²
I am surprised how many people don't know how to calculate this as it is very simple.

IMHO, as long as Google is won’t sell it worldwide officially and keep the black market cringe for selling overpriced Pixels it won’t be an overall success for them. They should follow the footsteps of Samsung, Apple and OnePlus.
