Prototype, 14 Aug 2021It's all ready to late, we heave more E waste 🗑 😑 😒 th... moreYes blame apple for all the e waste , that really makes sense.
Just because you don't like them doesn't mean they are to blame , how many companies churn out phone after phone after phone with minimal differences?
How many bundle pointless extras and packaging?
Don't tell me.... you're going to say just apple ? Or apple forces the other companies to be just as wasteful?
Be realistic and realise they all share a part in the blame

So EU should mandate only "standards" instead of "implementation" while keeping "hardware shape design" unchanged, to maintain back compatibility yet allow for innovation.

It's all ready to late, we heave more E waste 🗑 😑 😒 than Ever:
- I have a super fast charger that can only work with It's cable, adapter is not that smart to recognise if my other cables can be used
- I can use the SS adapter to charge a slower phone because is not the same company
- apple 🍎 is to blame ,the luck of legislation (we like you aour EU commission to fine big time this companys and don't let them sell their products, officially and un officially in any EU state until they have a charger that can work with all other devices out there)
- we consumer's have also the blame . Because we buy this products

Nedzo, 13 Aug 2021Hi folks. Speaking of charging protocols and charging ports... moreMaking unnecessary regulation doesn't help anyone, just because PD is convenient and lets you charge your phone faster doesn't mean it should be required for all manufacturers. It is like making regulation that all phones have a battery above a certain capacity or every phone has to have a camera above a certain quality. It makes no sense to make it a requirement. The best most expensive phones will always have the best features and people are more likely to buy then, cheaper phones leave out features to save money, PD is sometimes left out but a lot of budget phones do have it. It's very simple, if you want PD then buy a phone with PD, no need for a regulation to force all phones to have it. Also I'd be very surprised if any phone in the near future is able to charge at the full capacity of PD 3.0 (100W).

blue sun, 13 Aug 2021Why, if everyone has several chargers at home?Because I like to have my own charger? I have multiple, also because I am traveling often to friends, and sometimes I lose chargers (I forgot a brand new one in the train:(). I am now stuck with a broken charger and a charger with a very short cable because someone accidentally packed mine for a vacation. I really like it to have some good spare ones. I also have an old charger at my friends house in case I forgot mine (can't use an iPhone charger for my Samsung). It is so nice to have a new one every X years, and otherwise you can give them to someone who wants it. That is also how I get my headphones. I already got 4 pairs from friends and family

Hi folks. Speaking of charging protocols and charging ports, PD (power delivery 3.0) should be mandatory for all phone manufacturers (specs: wattage up to 100w, voltage 5V, 9V, 15V and 20V, current up to 5A). That is more than enough for smartphones and adequate for laptops.
Few words about wireless charging: it is apsolutely opposite and paradoxal to energy saving purposes (because lot of energy is wasted on heat, while charging).

Apple claims the entire industry is moving to usb c yet they are the only ones who wont. iphone users have been waiting gen aftrer gen for them to introduce usb c but they wont so accessory makers have to pay them a royalty. This is criminal imho and they should be fined for this

jason, 13 Aug 2021I love how Apple are complaining that it will hurt progress... moreLighting is not completely pointless, in fact it was much better than Micro-USB back in the day. But you are right about that they don't want to switch over because it will give them the most issues, coz they also make alot of money using their "proprietary" Lighting port accessories

Anonym, 13 Aug 2021I just love how you casually ignored that Lightning exists ... moreYee it is true that Lighting is much older than USB-C, but if they are also slowly moving to USB-C, and pretty much no one other Apple uses Lighting, it wouldn't make sense for Lighting to be the universal, and it makes more sense for USB-C to become unversal.

jason, 13 Aug 2021I love how Apple are complaining that it will hurt progress... moreI just love how you casually ignored that Lightning exists well before USB Type-C and that, in fact, the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) used Lightning as their inspiration for making the Type-C connector (as is evident by the discussions they had back in the day about reversible connectors).
I strongly dislike Apple for a barrage of reasons, but inventing Lightning is not one of them.
