Besides training AI to identify everyone even with his/her face covered. Let's keep on giving our facial meta-data to big tech companies, so they can collect our emotional status for tailored advertising & control.
Our faces speak more that what we know..

There is no way this is landing in iPhone 13. It's barely 1 month left till iPhone 13 launch and people have this idea that Apple testing this now can fit it into devices scheduled to be relased 1 month away? Shows how people don't understand logistics of things.
When iPhone 12 was launched, they already had a draft how iPhone 13 will look like and what its features and improvements will be. Meaning iPhone 13 is most likely already being stacked on pallets as finished product being prepared to ship out to suppliers/stores. Or it's very close to that phase. There is no way you can't test such hardware feature 1 month prior device release, certify it's working correctly, stick it into phone, actually manufacture it, package it and ship it to customers in September 2021. Software feature, maybe as it can still be delivered with delay after device launch, but not a hardware feature. Just no way.

rizki1, 26 Aug 2021my low end acer laptop still a live from 2013 with 2GB ram ... moreThat's such BS claim it would be the same if you didn't even write it. There's tons of Android phones that have exact same issues or are broken in numerous countless ways and you just purposely ignore it. Come on dude. Electronic devices break or have flaws with wear and tear or crap getting into them, even if it's just dust or water vapor.

FaceID exists since 2017 (iPhone X). And people greatly over-exaggerate the mask issue with it. So it has problem these 2 years. Fingerprint scanners, be it on back, on side or in display have problems every winter, every single year if you wear gloves. And no one even mentions that. Oh, you don't wear gloves when at home? Well, neither you do masks. It's annoyance, but not really a massive issue as everyone makes it to be.

You don't have Face ID, you have half baked Android version from it which just use your photo to scan your face so obviously you want to use fingerprint sensor, because you can't even use your face scanner for mobile paying, because it's not secure enough.
By the way what is wrong with your "face id" ?

You touch it all the time and touching it to unlock it is the most natural thing to do. You have to pick up your phone to use faceID anyway. It's not going to work if you don't touch your phone.

Socalteknique , 26 Aug 2021You know what works great with masks and glasses? A fingerp... moreYou don't say. But since Apple has decided it won't have a fingerprint scanner, therefore, something must be bad about it, and therefore I shall have none of it. Apple is always right.
Sony has been doing side fingerprint scanners for ages. I have a feeling Apple is going to introduce it for the iPhone. Just like the iPad. But they will wait. They will say they are taking their time in doing the best implementation of it that will leave other side scanners to the stone age. They won't call it fingerprint scanner or biometric security. They will call it EdgeSecure or BionicDNA, behave like it has never been done before, announce it like it's the greatest invention since fire and the wheel and that the Earth spins even faster since its introduction. The final nail will be drilled when PhoneArena, The Verge and ArsTechnica have articles headlined, "Who needs Face Recognition anymore? Touch is the best form of biometric security since the history of biometric security."
