If u keep on buying new parts throwing away the wasted ones then that is not going ot reduce e-waste much even if it would alot though. And as more companies get less sales its less profit. Then the phones available would be considered as e-waste. And then the profits would go almost 0 requiring companies to leave or even if a few are there prices would be extremely high. So I think this e-waste is just an excuse to making the oems rise the price of phones. I mean that's how the market worls

It makes sense, but brands will sell their most expensive phones to solve the low liquidity of their annual sales.

In past people used wood and then stone nowdays they use steel and many other components and alloys which proven great.
Everything evolving i dont think its impossible to make a device which can last lets say 100 years.
For E-Waste it will be great idea and with constant updates i would and should be great.

Like for computer for example. You have your chasis and maybe motbherboard and you will only swap for new ram, CPU, GPU, Cooling etc .
And you will keep swapping for as liong as you arent out of options.
Same can work with updates.
Like windows 10 had to be last windows.

Of course old phones without security updates are quite dangerous, 7 years is enough to render them not so dangerous in computer world.

If less phones are bought=more phones just sitting there waiting to be bought=less profit=company need sprofit=higher price so that they can still get some of the profit=not a happy costumer=no buy=even more less profit resulting for oem to quite and then only few people will still use phone for slightly shorter time so only very very fw oem left but with giga price

The amount of lag and stutters towards the more old stage of ur life will literally just probaly destroy ur phone. Literally why would want the same old phone for like ur whole life. It will probaly break eventually. Like break so much the components are broken. So there is no point. Also it is technically impossible for devs to support th e phone for that lomg

And even if some people do upgrade without caring about updates then only 1 or 2 oems will be left with just mega prices

AlexP, 07 Sep 2021Wrong. If we will stop buying phones, the price will go up ... moreIf everyone stopped buying phones, all the manufacturers will leave the market. When people start phones again, maybe only one or two manufacturers will be left and the phones will be astronomic in price. Forget poor people being able to afford phones anymore.
