Matching the thickness to the camera depth feels like an extremely obvious move to me. And for an Apple device the extra battery space will go further because their batteries are smaller and their SoCs less power-draining.

Isn't that Exactly why you can get there? By taking risks. It was huge risk alone for Apple to keep iOS only for themself, with little bit worse products and they could have never made more than few years with their iPhone. But their phone was so good that the risk paid off and now the results show better and better every year when they can offer stand out experience in the market, they have their own ecosystem which prints money for them every second=trillion dollar company.
Not sure how you think company can be trillion dollar company without taking risks. Another risk was iPad, we have smartphones and laptops, no-one needs tablet they said..

If the rumors turn out to be true and Apple releases this iPhone 14 Pro Max design then this iPhone will be the highest selling item in the history of mobile phone sales.
The sales will increase at least 10-fold.

Pinch of salt thrown away. Apple's Face ID is the gold standard in facial unlock that no one else other than Huawei has been able to replicate and this is coming from the guy that doesn't care for iPhones. I really don't think they're going to deviate from the notch until under-display tech has fully matured. Otherwise, it would weirdly make the pro missing a feature the cheaper models have...
