Weekly poll: vivo X70 series will be rolling out to new markets soon, will you buy one?

12 September 2021
And which one - the X70 Pro+ got the most upgrades, which sets it apart from the X60 Pro+. The X70 and X70 Pro don't stand out as much.

Sort by:

im not a photographer. So vivo x70 regular is enough.

Hopefully it reaches Europe.

Demongornot, 12 Sep 2021Let's tour the Pro+ as to why I wouldn't buy it :... moreWell, all phones with camera with angle between 50 - 100mm, the 1/2.9" is the largest used. The 64Mp of huawei and honor is 1/2.9" not the 1/1.76".

Most use even smaller than this, like 1/3.4", 1/3.6" , 1/4" or 1/5".

Anonymous, 12 Sep 2021Where do you start. No quality video (12 bit+ HDR 4:2:2-4:... moreYou complain about the fact phone lacks 12bit video and usb4.0 when the CPU does not suppost any of this?

Without 3.5mm, input for micro sd and bluetooth 5.2 my money won't see it.

Anonymous, 12 Sep 2021Where do you start. No quality video (12 bit+ HDR 4:2:2-4:... moreWith those video recording demands you're better off buying a dedicated 8k video camera. Which will be much bigger than a phone, will have a much larger sensor, optics, properly cooled hardware, will weight a ton and cost a fortune.

But you knew that already, right?

Never will buy a phone with a punch hole and without a 3.5mm jack, expandable storage and unlockable bootloader.

Sadly leaves few options.

Acorns, 12 Sep 2021How bout just 'no I'm happy with the phone I'... moreSame thing here - won't buy Vivo because I'm perfectly happy with my current (and cheaper) device (A52 5G).

The problem with Vivo is that the China price go from 600 to 950 EUR, that's a huuuuuuge amount difference. Not only tax & import fees here.

How can they release both X60 pro and x70 pro in same year?
Is this supposed to be a 6 months cycle before a flagship refresh?

Is Vivo origin OS better than color OS or miui?

  • Anonymous

Yes it's a proper flagship

Let's tour the Pro+ as to why I wouldn't buy it :
*Curved edge display.
*Punch hole.
*No 3.5mm Jack.
*No SD Card slot (lets alone an independent one).
*No IR Blaster.
*Sub 12Mp Telephoto sensor.
*240 fps slow-mo (lol, in this is correct, this is awful, modern smartphones really are downgrading a lot of stuff nowadays).
*No Macro camera or mode.
*Optical FPS rather than capacitive (back/side) or ultrasonic.
*Small battery (the Poco F2 Pro with the same thickness and no camera bump have a 4700mAh one, while this one have 4500mAh).
*Based on Kimovil "GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, QZSS, Galileo, GPS (L1+L5), GLONASS (L1)" is quite bad considering even the Nubia Play which is cheaper and older has this "GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, GPS (L1+L5), GLONASS (L1), BeiDou (B1), Galileo (E1+E5a), BeiDou (B2)", proper Beidou B1, GLONASS L1, and Galileo E11+E5a.

On the flip side, there are some improvements that should have been the norm a while ago.
*Great 12Mp dedicated Portrait rather than a useless 2Mp depth sensor, a big win!
*OIS on all camera, a big win, even though, since cheap phones already have OIS, that's about time expensive one have it on all camera...
*Gimbal, even though Gimbal itself isn't fast enough to do the job of both Gimbal and OIS, they are two different tech, one is for compensating vibrations on a small scale but high speed, the other for locking on a target and compensating larger movements.

I think that overall, these would do quite well on the UK market, especially if purchased with a data allowance through someone like O2 or Vodafone

Well, vivo is doing what LG did: difrent markets, difrent specs...

That may leave people not to buy vivo devices. They fonte deserve it cause treating markets diffrently is odd.

And well, using Dimensity or Exynos over Snapdragon is shoot yourself in the foot.
