If EU already had an research and says that EU consumers already have an average of three chargers. Then theres no point arguing.

What next, chargers and cables for other things?
I am okey to remove them from boxes, but give them for free when buying a new phone is chargers is needed, in which case it is going to be needed for most, no one changes phones multiple times a year, or every years, specially flagships.

Bunch of Chinese brands have some weird proprietary charging standards which means you'll eithe have to go out of your way to buy that weird expensive charger or be forced to charge at slow speeds that have nothing to do with advertised speeds.

Y... moreI agree! However, a wireless charger is a charger, after all. Then how would it save the environment?
Another point I don't understand in the EU plans:
Yes, chargers can be faulty or old, and we will throw them out. It will not change with 3rd party chargers... Wouldn't it be better to collect them back from the users for free, for example, and dispose of those within a controlled process?

EU: "European consumers spend €2.4 billion annually on standalone chargers not included with devices"
Also EU: "European consumers won't get charges with the phone so they can buy them. This will save consumers around €250 mil and e-waste"
Result: EU basically forcing consumers to spend for chargers to SAVE money

There's a lot of valid points in the comments here;
Yes removing the charger will likely not reduce the price of devices, especially the premium ones. We've already seen this happen.
Wireless charging in the absence of a USB-C could be a way for an OEM to impose their proprietary charging solution on consumers and force you to buy their wireless fast charger out have slow charging speeds.
The only good that might come from this is that everything will soon support USB-C PD in addition to a manufacturers proprietary charging technology. This would give you another option should you not have the OEM charger with you or swap OEM devices upon upgrading.
You'll find that a lot of phones already support both Qualcomm Quick Charge & PD, which has been the case since QC 4 when the chargers also have PD built in.

It is based on a huge assumption, and that is where the lawmakers go extremely arrogant, thinking that they know how households work - without any facts.
The assumption is that everyone has 2-3 (let's say, some) chargers at home. Where is the proof? For example, older generations could have only one phone with one charger, and when they give it away or sell it, they will have zero chargers. And we can continue with other demographic segregations. I am not an expert in the area, though.
I have 2-3 only because I bought 3rd party chargers. But if one does not want to do this?

So finally the lightning connector will be gone. Besides adding to the e-waste every year, it's a cable that costs a lot and breaks very easy, so it's good that it's going to be removed from phones finally
