Once again Mediatek is going to shoot their legs. Once decided to use Mali G710 at least use the max configuration of MC16 and not the super weak one of MC10. Using PowerVR(Imagination Technologies) would be much wiser decision since they are considered more powerful and more energy efficient, but since they chose Mali and least they should put MC16.

Another issue with efficiency is that it is a measure which is relative to the work you are doing. Being efficiency does mean anything if you use a ton of power...mobile workloads simply don't need that kind of power.
I blame all of the tech writers like anadtech who keep pushing this nonsense of synthetic benchmarks as way to measure how good a phone is. We've long since passed the point where SoCs can run a phone without stutter. The rest is in the OEM's software. Tell me about the day to day usage. How well does the software streamline your life? How is the modem? Can I get through the day with at least 30% left to spare? These are the kinds of things that matter, not synthetic benchmarks.

So it might be 30% more power efficient at a given performance level. So if its 30% more efficient but 30% more powerful they even eachother out.
