Instead of designing whole new cameras for the purpose of attaching them to phones, I wish they would just spend the time developing a fully integrated, high-speed interface between existing camera systems (DSLRs, mirrorless system cameras and pocket cameras) and smartphones and implementing that universally across all major camera brands. I should be able to attach my phone to the DSLR and use it like a viewfinder, then immediately have the raw file transferred to my phone's storage and editable in a professional photo editor that can output JPEGs. None of this should need to involve a desktop PC or manual transferring of files in 2021.

Xperia 5 II owner here. This whole "camera aimed at professional photographers" is complete bullshit for two reasons:
                1) Sometimes you just don't have time to adjust all the settings and need to snap a quick picture, but the photos from the auto camera app look like from a 2018 midranger.
                2) EVEN if you adjust everything PERFECTLY, the photos still can still hardly match the quality of automatic snappers from other flagships like Galaxy S series

Xperia Mk. I was a camera disappointment, Xperia Mk. II was a camera disappointment, Xperia Mk. III was a camera disappointment, and I have suspicion that whatever they are planning here will be just another in the series of disappointment.

I already expect this article comment will be futile and volatile at the same time due to endless wars regarding Xperias since Z eras, and the 131 comments as this reply were written prove it here. I'm just waiting for what Xperia is this time, nevertheless.

DSLR will have a following for a long time, sure, even VHS and still Betamax does. . .

Imrubalich, 22 Oct 2021Sony is known for camera technology. But still their camera... moreIf people cared about camera they wouldn't be buying Samsung flagships as much. I really know who in the hell would want pictures of their kids with red blush cheeks all the time and toxic glowing colors every freakin time. And then there is that horrible portrait mode, amateurish photoshop job done for you by your phone. Where are shadows on Samsung? Apparently they don't exists in the real world. That's Samsung, the best selling Android flagship manufacturer in the world.

YUKI93, 21 Oct 2021I doubt that. A friend of mine does have a Sony FF Mirrorle... moreDSLR is still dead, even though your friend still prefers one DSLR he owns over one mirrorless he owns, which is just an anecdote :-)

Nor have I ever claimed that any and all mirrorless ever made was better from the start at all things versus DSLR with similar sized sensor, and same goes for lenses available. But still, with time and innovation mirrorless won and DSLR died.

That doesn't mean that existing owners can't still use their equipment though. It's just that it is nonsense to keep referring to DSLR vs. smartphone cameras in the comment section as DSLR is dead. Instead one should refer to Mirrorless, it's not more complicated than that.

"Mirrorless" is already the default abbreviation of Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Cameras. If an acronym is preferred than how about MILC?

Anonymous, 22 Oct 2021Dude, do you know what are the different between DSLR and a... moreThe difference is DSLR is age old and hasn't seen any innovation for years as the tech is dead. It lost to mirrorless, yes both on crop sensors, full format and medium format.

I get that some people are heavily invested in their DSLR setup, but that doesn't change the fact that mirrorless is superior and hence took over and caused DSLR to die as a newsales option.

You will find that you actually can remove any system app for the current user with the pc and adb program. NO ROOT needed!
Just be careful what you uninstall/disable as you might get stuck in a bootloop, but it's easily fixable with a hard reset from recovery mode.
People, use the thingy inside your skulls called '' the brain"!

Sony is known for camera technology. But still their camera is the worst in all the flagships. So Sony now has 3 major drawbacks, first they get confused with remote control due to being narrow, second 11 or 12 mm thickness with pony battery and last but not the least the most shi...y camera on a flagship with prices comparable to iPhone. On the other hand, they don't have damaged display (with punch holes or notches), they retain some bezels, sd card slot, audio jack, charger which most people don't care about. So Sony's ship is sinking slowly but surely
