So for those saying they prefer slow charge bcos the phone battery can last few years without changing a new battery.

If 2023 all the phone at least 50watts charging speed. Are they stop buying phone anymore?

If one day apple/samsung/sony/pixel provide at least 50watts charging speed in future. Nobody will buy their phone? Because they follow the Chinese brand trend?

Anonymous, 06 Nov 2021So what? It delivers the 50% charge in the time advertised.... moreThat's the most dumb thing I've ever heard. Listen. No one forced you to use the fast charger in the box with phones. You can use a slow charger if u really want to make the battery percentage after a few years a few % more. And when u need a fast charger real quick for a few times then u cna use that fast charge rin box too. Its like what that guy who replied to my original comment in this article said that just cuz a car has max 300 km or more or something doesn't mean u can only drive it at that speed. U can drive it at 300 km if u want too (but no one is that crazy to drive it at 300 km lmao) and u can also drive it at a regular speed u would want too. And no the advertised speeds in the chinese phones with fast chargers are mostly true since thye achieve those battery percentages in mostly similar time only a few min difference.

Tbf, since both 0% and 100% degrade battery life over time, setting up the charge ng such that people tend to stop at 50-80 unless they really need full charge or are charging overnight works out fine.

Isn't this the same kind of thing Sony do with their smartphones? After all, Sony also cares about battery life.

Google doesn't use greatest charging tech
Because pixel is aimed at developer who want latest Android
              That's all

              Also
It seems to me that lately only Chinese brand bring innovation to mobile industry.

It's more about the design, comfort, after sales service, and also brand/status which also effects resale value. Top speed and acceleration are only like a bonus.

                        "120 watts charging is useless!"

In that case I would say, who does stop you to use a weaker charger?

Aside from the fact that I am not a fan of fast charging, I could always use a weaker charger if I want to.

But anyhow, my guess is that Google doesn't do this to keep the battery healthy, but because they used cheaper batteries.

Bu... moreYou're misunderstanding how battery health actually works. 85% health leads to high-ish ESR (internal resistance) and you'll probably see early shutdowns with moderate load. Also yeah, fast charging is cool and all, but what's the point of making phones disposable by not making the battery user-replaceable or (much worse) not distributing official replacement batteries? I'd be really happy if there was a fast charging phone with replaceable batteries, even if it's 1mm thicker (yikes)
