Google Pixel 6 Pro doesn't actually charge at 30W

Lab tests show that the Google Pixel 6 Pro doesn't use Google's new 30W charger to its full potential.

*laughs in Xiaomi Mi 11 55W fast-charging* 100% in 45 minutes. It's a shame that it takes two hours to fully charge the battery of the Pixel 6 Pro. That's just too long when you're not at home. For me it looks like Google wanted to save production cost.

Like are you gonna use the phone 4-5 years? Then surely you can get a lower power charger that will charge slower?

For the rest of the folks, which use their phones up to 2 years to 3 years max, it's insanely useful to have a phone that can charge to 50% in less than 15 minutes and from 0 to 100% in half an hour. I'm talking about the Realme X2 Pro, which I use, and it has a 50W charger. I've been using it for a year and a half, and I didn't pay attention to the battery health at all. I never let it die on 0%, but I did charge it to 100% almost all the time (which you really shouldn't do). Results? It's on 87% health. I'm expecting it to be at around 80% after 2 full years, which is not concerning the least. The pure convenience of plugging your phone, grabbing a meal/snack, going for a quick shower, and almost getting a full day of battery life more than makes up for it.

What a joke. My 3 year old Mate 20 Pro with 40W charges 70% in half an hour.

In Googles defense , 48% in half hour and 80% in a hour are good enough for most consumers, you may not charge battery at fullest, so you don't need to wait two hours, just one.

Then again these speeds are anything but impressive and unlike what competition offers, so I see why some will be upset discovering QC 2.0 speeds in 2021.

Well its google dont expect miracles.
Its like in past when 100-150 years ago a food maker company could tell you that their product is so healthy it cures from cancer or something like that.
Everybody knew its a lie but noone could force the company to courts or something like that.

Isn't this also a charging strategy used to prolong battery life/total number of charge cycles?

              down the drain it goes

So what? It delivers the 50% charge in the time advertised. If you want a quick top-up when not starting from flat it will probably charge quickly for a short time as well. If you want to fully charge then you don't want it to do all of that at the maximum charging speed, which is why it doesn't (and no phone does).

How long do the phones that claim "60W charging" or "100W charging" actually charge at those rates for? The answer will be "not long", because otherwise those same 2 words will describe how long your battery will survive.

But we all know that big numbers work as a marketing gimmick, so the temptation to talk about results for a 30W charger (a way of implying 30W charging rates without saying so) is obvious. And that's also what these much higher charging powers you see advertised are, marketing gimmicks.

Jesus guys what is wrong on that?
I use it last 1.5 week and im heavy user 8=hours a day on display and surprise battery is hold all day. 7am take it from charger and 10pm put in charge and has 15%+ battery. so that 50% in 30 min is enough when I need emergency phone over night, and if not will charge over night. so I why need 100W+ charging better is keep phone on battery all day and charge over night

It's true that fast charging can degrade a battery faster and slow charge is preferred to increase it's life but it all depends on a multitude of factors like temperature and chemistry.
For a lithium battery the "sweet spot" between life expectancy and the length of charging is 1C meaning taking 1h to charge the cell from it's min nominal voltage to it's max nominal voltage .
A pattern of charging I would be ok with it is something like from 5% 15 minutes to 50% 30 minutes to 75 % , 45minutes to 90% and then slowly to 100% in 60minutes.
Taking two hours to fully charge (0.5C) frankly has minimal benefits of longevity versus the time you spend charging and it can't be classified as fast charge by any metrics.

Nothing actually charges as they say it does, there's always flaws, buy a power bank simple as,if you work all day you wouldn't have time to flatten your battery,if it's been on charge all night then that should be sufficient ,GEEZ 😡

every grandpa brand : even 25w charging is not good for you

So now some Sammy/google/apple/Sony fanboy are defending about fast charging yet I'm here being like why don't they realize that u can buy another charger that's slow since a USB type-c charger works universally on any phone that's not old or not an iPhone. And if u ever need the fast charger then u can just plug into the fast charger and then u can use the slow charger for latter on.

The Flip, 06 Nov 2021Fast charging is harmful to the battery but Oppo helped mak... moreYou just spreading lies and u urself got fooled. No fast charging doesn't produce thta much heat since u only charge 45%. Where u live and how often u charge it also matters. Battery capacity and battery quality also matters. So please its not only fast charging that's the problem. And there are many solutions that cna reduce heat from fast charging.
