Eric Schmidt: Android is winning the war with iOS pretty clearly

Andrew, 13 Dec 2012Android popularity is boosted by low end devices. That's it... moreAre you serious? You clearly wouldn't make a good critic. There are several android phones currently on the market that topple crApple's iPhone 5, and there are several more to come. I'll admit, I also like WP's very much, but to go for Apple is just completely unnecessary. Unless, of course you wanna spend huge amounts of money for outdated and outmatched technology.

There's no retina display on an iPad mini. I'm a Droid and even *I* know that. Quite obviously you don't actually own one, despite what you say. Else you'd know. I don't dislike Apple products. For many years Apple innovated and pushed the market forward. Smartphones wouldn't be what they are today if it wasn't for iOS. And iOS 6 wouldn't be what it is today without their competitors and forerunners. I'm glad symbian died, I've had 2 symbian phones and those were the worst I ever owned.
Apple release one phone each year, which vastly outperforms its predecessor, thus putting Apple now into the same position that Android has been in for quite a few years: fragmentation. Older devices won't run current iOS smoothly and even then only with reduced features. There's a market for all different OS, as long as people are willing to buy it. Android is as much a free OS as iOS and WP are, they come free with the hardware you BUY. Free updates included. I personally choose Android because it suits me better, while I'd recommend my mum, for example, to opt for an iPhone because she won't manage to mess it up as easily by accidentally fiddling with system settings. Apple's price tag is unjust, so is their user policy and their closed eco-system. But I'm slightly envious, how Microsoft, unlike anyone else, gives their mobile and desktop devices an almost identical front end, making the UX much smoother, simpler and more intuitive. Neither Google nor Apple do that. To be fair, I find it quite annoying how Android floods the market with less-than-perfect low-end offerings, just to obtain the lead in market share. It's a very good OS, it's come a long way and I'm excited to see what KLP will bring. Sadly fragmentation and the need to cater for the sheer amount of low-spec devices will hamper all-out forward development. Fanboy-ism is just stupid, especially as the people involved in all this shit flinging are kids who spent too much money on devices they don't actually need just to compensate for their other shortcomings. I've seen and repaired too many broken Apple devices to believe the "superior" quality hype. I've used Android for too long to still consider it perfect. My phone isn't better than yours but I still enjoy using it. A lot of guys just need to grow up. Stop trying to desperately qualifying overpriced hardware or a phone that's outdated every couple of weeks. Enjoy what you have (or buy something else instead and see if it suits you better) and let the others enjoy what they have. I can't believe how many of you guys are so insecure that hating is all you're capable of, in your constant fear that someone else might actually be right and the phone you have is not in fact the greatest invention since sliced bread. Life goes on, with or without a smartphone.

Appl fans should be thankful for android.....Without the competition they would still be fighting for their "multi tasking", and copy paste.

[deleted post]wow looks like ur running windows xp on SGS3. yeah everyone knows that any kind of system will lag if u overload the ram with too many apps it may even crash, even iphone. we r still on vlsi/ulsi technology. 1gig of ram n 1.6ghz quad core is more than enough to run stock android os n surf gsmarena web.

Andrew, 13 Dec 2012Android popularity is boosted by low end devices. That's it... moreSo? You can take android out as an option and put java in... That is more like IOS.... I am not familiar with WP... It is practically "dead" here.. Never get a chance to even have a try at one.

It turns out he did not know how to do with android... hahahahahaha. This particular IOS fan boys kept on complaining about his HTC Desire (which he bought just to rub in my face how lousy Android is)... Time rolls on... His device sold to me... And now I rub it in his face how HTC Desire beats the hell out of his iphone 4s...

AnonD-78217, 13 Dec 2012Comparing iOS with android is literally like comparing appl... moreIf you take the customisation and freedom away.. do not bother producing an android os... There is already a product called IOS... You called IOS stable? I worked in a cellphone shop... how many times have I seen their iphone 5 re flashed?... too many to count for such a new product.
