I use both OS's daily and have to admit, its all about iOs stability and user experience vs open systems.
both has its flaws but for myself i'd say iphone 5 is still unrivalled. waiting next android big thing

in terms of p... moreGoogle actually IS winning. Android is completely free and google doesn't make a dime from selling the OS or the phones (Nexus phones' prices cover the materials, building and shipment costs and actually make Google little or no money whatsoever).
For Google it's all about having more people using their services which gives them more info on peoples' lives and habits which makes their targeted advertising more effective and profitable.
By all accounts they're succeeding.
