I don't think that iPhone can only be rejected just bcoz it doesn't has a camera for video calls, bt the thngs that make iPhone controversial to most users are:
1. No MMS functionality
2. The bluetooth limitd functionality
3. Bulky
4. A high-end nd high pricd phone with only 2 M.Pixls
I thnk these are the esentials whch evry hi-end phone contains bt only iPhone. Nd i dont thnk that we must take clash on the O.Sys, as every o.sys fulfil our needs. I thnk we can go for samsumg's omnia, or nokia's N96, or S.E's G-series, or htc's touch diamond whch has everythng; the esentials, the inovations, the designs nd just thnk abt a functionality nd these phones wil gve u. So plz don't compare iPhone with the leaders. iPhone is only 'in' 4 a short time. Just wait for the kings from nokia, S.E, sams. . . . . , htc. Wish u best of luck iPhone.

Jem, 10 Jun 2008Read the specification carefully before you comment, if you... moreThis is not the cheapest HSDPA device. Don't be misleading. If you want a cheap 3G device then go and buy SONY ERICSSON K530i with 150€ for the device only. Pay 399$ just for the Apple logo and a few upgrades or a sleek design? I don't get this I-phone frenzy-ness! Thanks but no thanks.

Read the specification carefully before you comment, if you are not sure check the Apple offical web.
There is a camera infront and well hidden beside the LAD sensor and that is for video call.
The new iPhone support bluetooth with EDR support too. not sure what is EDR check the web.
Another new thing on this iPhone is GPS support and a new version of mobile web browser safri.
Before the announce of iPhone 2nd version there are people already had some real information about it and now it seems to be true when specification posted on the Appple web matches with it.

I guess this can be the cheapest HSDPA device on the market having a great rise to HSPA services, i always wanted to get a mobile device supporting HSPA but it seems devices like HTC and NOKIA seems to be too expensive. It is worth to consider for this new iPhone although i don't really like the first version.

The price announced from Apple of 199$ is misleading! This is the price with an upgrade and a 2 year contract from AT&T. If you buy the device as standalone you will have to pay from 399$ !! I am not paying 399$ for a 2MP camera phone.... I am not fascinated with the fancy i-phone looks in order to pay that amount! Lets wait for the new Ericsson G-Series (thats a real phone!)

[deleted post]wait3x kabayan, it seems dat other sources (lyk d ones below)
http://news.softpedia.com/news/iPhone-3G-Officially-Hitting-23-Countries-on-July-11-87641.shtml
hence, d price of $199 n $299 for 8GB n 16GB versions respectively might b d WHOLE COST for us to OWN a 3G iPhone?! woooohoooo(?) OMFG, dat was pretty affordable i must say! so again, therefore, pls ignore d 4th paragraph in my last post, ok n pardon me f i quite confused u buddy ;-)
nwey, another update, it wil be available in Manila by 11 Jul 2008. well at least according to d link above.
but wait, another update (OH MEN):
http://www.yugatech.com/blog/telecoms/globe-iphone-3g-post-paid-plans-unveiled/
from dat source, 3G iPhones wil b available by September 2008 in Manila (dunno now who to believe)
"The starting price of $199 for the 8GB iPhone 3G model will come in a 2-year lock-in period with Globe Telecom. Here are the supposedly postpaid plans for new Globe subscribers:
G-Max 3500 iPhone 3G
Initial Fee: Php9,995
Monthly Fee: Php3,500
Free Text: 650
Free Calls: 750 mins.
Globe to Globe: Php3.50/minute
Globe to Non-Globe: Php4.50/minute
Excess SMS Rates: Php0.50/text
Globe Platinum 5000 iPhone 3G
Initial Fee: FREE
Monthly Fee: Php5,000
Free Text: 650
Free Calls: 1,100 mins.
Globe to Globe: Php3.50/minute
Globe to Non-Globe: Php4.50/minute
Excess SMS Rates: Php0.50/text
Optional: Additional Php2,000/month for Unlimited 3G Plans (Globe Visibility). Plans have 2-year lock-in period with Globe.
PrePaid Plans have not been finalized yet (due to Forex rates) but it will be in the range of Php20,000 to Php25,000.
Note that these plans have not been verified but based on the existing mobile subscriptions currently offered by Globe, they seem to fit and make sense."
dis sources r quite confusing... most likely, d last source/link i gave wil more or less be d most realistic one.

[deleted post]8GB 3G iPhone does not really cost $199 only. in fact, according to GSMarena's news..
"there's no way that these prices are SIM-free - you will most probably have to enter into a long-term pricey contract with one of the approved carriers in order to get it"
in our case, we, Pinoys will be able to buy (d proper way; but im sure magkakaron nyan sa greenhills, hihihi) 3G iPhones thru Apple's official Philippine partner, Globe Telecom (great move btw).
as much as i dont wanna speculate on d plan where dis 8GB 3G iPhone will be, aaah, i cant resist (dis r only wild guesses guys). perhaps it wil be under plan 1200-1800 (for d 8GB version + a cash out(?) of $199), whilst plan 2500-5000 for d 16GB version (plus a cash out(?) of $299). of course, u wil be either locked with Globe for at least a year, 18 months or even for up to 24 months. u may also opt to buy these 3G iPhones on prepaid, and yes, it wil surely cost sky high (maybe - 20k to 35k pesos). Globe's press release below:
http://portal.myglobe.com.ph/portal/Suboverview.do?id=1720&aid=2326462
availability here in Manila, later this year (no exact date, unfortunately)
hop dis helps =)

You people love to bash, but the reason I'll buy the new 3G iPhone is not for the hardware. Its for the software. Apple is a software company and they are better than windoz will ever be, iPhone will rock once 2.0 firmware comes around.
