iPhone is dead, long live the iPhone 3G!

09 June, 2008
That title up there might be a bit misleading since the first gen iPhone is not at all dead - firmware 2.0 is just around the corner now. But Apple have just announced the new harder, better, faster, stronger...

To be fair(ish) people who have iPhone will be able to upgrade to iPhone 2, I dare say you could cover the cost (£99 in most instances) by selling your old one... when I get the new one I'm giving mine to my girlfriend because she's not bothered about GPS and 3G, she likes using the browser for facebook etc so it's not all bad. I do think that the US market has been ripped off though, we are offering a pay as you go option and 18 month contracts rather than 24. Sorry about the rant, It's just annoying when people constantly state opinion as if its sold gold fact :(

        No, that's not how I treat my customers, I will ask people questions about their lifestyle and how that affects their wants/needs, so therefore if someone such as yourself comes into my store, I won't slate the iphone and say get the N95 or the Samsung Tocco or Soul, I will suggest the right phone to suit those needs and requirements. What a lot of people are guilty of here is greed, it is not Apple's duty to make YOU the phone YOU want, so why do people keep trying to change it to suit them. It really angers me when people say it's a bad phone jsut because it doesn't tailor to them, hence fools.

          Tempting....but doesn't have what i want; Bluetooth, solid phone camera and expandable memory, 8gb is simply not enough for today's files and strangely now it's wider, taller and fatter to accommodate 3G?

              To bad it still lacks whats neaded to the a good buisness phone. Its good for fanboys and uneducated people who want a phone/mp3/gps but it sucks in the corporate issues.

                  However, you cant leave the store until your phone is connected and activated. So, the price is only cheap as the networks are subsidising most of the value of the phone. Looks like Zibri may be out of a job.

                  So, for those that wont have the iPhone launching in their country and going to have to look elsewhere.

                  APPLE = FAIL

                    To bad it still misses some obvious functions like memory card slot , bluetooth or front camera. What 3G phone is this if it doesn't support video-call?

Only "0.01%" use the voice call, because only those people has phones with videocalls and access to 3G network. Of course you won't answer a video call of a stranger, right? But you will answer your friends and family.

                                It will be for sale in brazil 'til the end of year, but this price is not possible, too few people would agree on 2 years contract. But luckily it can't be locked by any company, since there's laws that prohibits that.

                                  No videocall camera? The coollest thing on 3G is the videocall, the increase on bandwidth of the network it's just an improvement. What to talk about the same old 2MP camera... shame on you apple. This iphone is the same with a the gps built in. It's most like the designer thought that putting a videocall camera on front side would make iphone look uglier.

                                    Great phone... But I'll never buy one.... Not that i can't afford it... Simply because

                                    No Video, No Bluetooth, No video call camera. Crappy spec with a flashy OS.
                                    Btw this is an opinion, so it cannot be incorrect. And is based on user experience :P
