iPhone is dead, long live the iPhone 3G!

09 June, 2008
That title up there might be a bit misleading since the first gen iPhone is not at all dead - firmware 2.0 is just around the corner now. But Apple have just announced the new harder, better, faster, stronger...

For US$199 is dirt cheap! Hopefully it will be direct conversion for Australia market. Below AU$300 will be good! Any idea?

3G Iphone seems overrated and unimpressive...Iphones in general have awesome "good to have" features, but lack the basics...Apple. cant you just make the ultimate phone and make all us haters into lovers?

Bish, 10 Jun 2008What many of you fail to realize is that the iPhone is more... morei agree that iphone has a nice user interface, but i think your way off when you say that

"Apple creates a community and opens its doors to other companies who want to be included."

If anything, i think apple wants a complete monopoly! you can't install 3rd party application on it, which is a big mistake for a mobile phone since different users have different needs. apple acknowledge that mistake when it offered a not-so-open SDK application to would be developers.

the "community" that is behind iphone is actually a very limited few, probably such as yourself.

Again, I do admire the touch interface of iphone, but as regards anything else, you don't have to fool anyone, we all know that's not the case.

What many of you fail to realize is that the iPhone is more than just the sole phone and its specs by itself.

Apple creates a community and opens its doors to other companies who want to be included. I personally think the typical phone specs are lacking (no secondary video conference cam, no BT upgrade, etc.) but it lets more than just the single user in. With combined imaginations and desire to make things better, the iPhone is an elite tool as far as a mobile device goes in this connected age. Nokia, SE, Samsung and the rest may have phones with more MP or what have you, but they do not have the community that is behind the actual phone.

Until other companies can create a network like Apple has and an interface that is as user friendly - not just for the phone but between phones and computers and networks - I don't see a comparison as far as all-around mobile devices are concerned. Apple is building the future in mobile communication while the others are building upon how phones have been used.
