iPhone is dead, long live the iPhone 3G!

09 June, 2008
That title up there might be a bit misleading since the first gen iPhone is not at all dead - firmware 2.0 is just around the corner now. But Apple have just announced the new harder, better, faster, stronger...

Epic fail! Only 3G and GPS?!? Apple sure knows how to make all the iLemmings pay for the iPhone all over again.

N95 8GB loads much faster than Apple claimed and why they compare sites that have flash content. It means that N95 loads way more stuff than iPhone that cannot handle flash.

And who is stupid enough to think that it's only going to cost 199$? Add 2 year contract to that and the total price is well over 1000$. With this Apple's logic, pretty much all other phones cost 0$ (if we can leave out the price of the contract).

My N95 8GB was only 0$ (plus 30$/month). Who called this Apple crap cheap?!?

I was going to buy a Nokia e71 but Nokia dragged their feet for so long (it is still not released) that I will buy an iPhone instead.

the truth is, you can praise the SDK all you want, but most people out there only buy this phone to use as a phone. The 3rd party apps are for people who spends more time playing with the phone than the average user. So, this 3G iPhone might be heaven for those who will go crazy with SDK & 3rd party apps, for the average user, the pre-packaged functions are average. This should have been the 1st gen of iPhone. UMTS should be standard for all phones from now on. HSDPA should be standard for phones that are boasting to be the top one out there. The specs for this phone is like the average PDA that we get out of LG or HTC last year!!! I am actually more interested in the new HTC phone with Android by Google. The rumored Prada 2 will be the 3G iPhone Killer!

This is going to be the standard for total mobile connectivity, just like Itunes is the standard for mobile music, the others are dead

Oh, also, Jobs said Iphone's 3G will be 35% faster than rival Nokia's N95. That cracked me up. Just for the record: N95 is a 1+ yera old phone. Apple's year-old first generation Iphone didn't even have the technology. One more disappointment: since it's going to be the very same Safari for this new one, too, don't expect flash support, no Hulu, my friends, no Hulu...

does Apple really think that this 3G iPhone can compete with Nokia and SE for supremacy? This is just the standard upgrade to 3G. Nothing really new accept for language support and HSDPA. Both of which is standard with Nokia since 2007. There is still no word on the new Nokia touchscreen phone yet, but I am sure it will blow this iPhone out of the water. Even the HTC Diamond & Touch Pro looks more attractive than the iPhone. iPhone is now official a fashion phone with features that are average at best. No impressed with this phone at all. I would rather by the Xperia X1 by SE when it comes out. Well, maybe I will look into the Nokia symbian touch UI first if it comes out this summer.

well...i'm a lil bit dissapointed too. But apple has a SDK, that allows you to build your own applications, even MMS and other things.

Wireless Guru, 09 Jun 2008With that price point, Apple will sell the living crap out ... moreYou own a couple of wireless stores and really think someone could buy this phone at $199/$299 without a contract?

My assumption is you can get it but you need to be AT&T and start your contract over.

However- If the Apple stores sells them- they aren't set up to activate or renew contracts....hmmmmm..
