Disappointing indeed. I wonder when will a new exciting brand come and would again steal enthusiast hearts. Just like OnePlus did.

Seem to be many comments from the Apple crew. Open source products like Android are software products. Out is extremely rare that the hardware manufacturer is also very skilled are software as well. Apple tries to pretend that it is possible to have have both advanced hardware and advanced software.
Android knows that these two are very different, and each can cripple the other, like a bad marriage. Good marriages, forever more, all the time, are extremely rare. Often each partner excels the other.

Android luckily has a Microsoft and Nova Launchers. Both are much better than any hardware OEM launcher. Don't tell Apple and their fanboys this secret. Similarly with icons, themes and keyboards.

Open source products are better, especially when based on open source Unix (which includes open source Linux and open source Android). Google's Gboard is the best keyboard of any type: swipe, voice, and multi-language. Goggle's open source Chromium browser is best. This includes a Microsoft Edge, Google's closed source Chrome, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera etc.

Open source operating systems like Android also have third party versions. Most Android hardware manufacturers use the operating systems designed by operating system specialists, independent of the hardware designer. Some of these operating system specialists also release free versions for some of these Android hardware devices. Search the site: Needrom for example.

Had to rollback my OnePlus 8 to android 10 because android 11 just doesn't cut it. Also OnePlus decided not to make it 90fps compatible in most games either. This colour os garbage is heading for OnePlus 8 2022. Looks like I will be staying on android 10. Plus nova3 by Gameloft is supported on android 10.

So they trashed oxygen os like we didn't see this one coming. May as well just give it full colour os and shut OnePlus down seeing as its core values have been ruined by oppo.

dbjungle, 09 Dec 2021Remember back in June 2021, yes 6 months ago, when OnePlus ... moreAt that time, most people knew it was just PR talk to calm the protest from longtime Oneplus users. OxygenOS turning into ColorOS was pretty much set in motion when they started replacing HydrogenOS in China.

After reading through the article, the conclusion I can make is the OxygenOS 12 update is a nightmare for Oneplus loyal fans. Almost everything good about OxygenOS have been removed or changed. Bugs and instabilities galore. Even Oneplus' well-known optimization has been negatively affected.

PixelFan, 09 Dec 2021Wait, so is the Realme UI not that good? I was told that i... moreRealme started using a direct copy of Oppo's ColorOS. RealmeUI 1.0 changed some things but mostly aesthetics because the framework is still ColorOS. Looking at OxygenOS slowly and surely turning into ColorOS, won't be long before RealmeUI follow the same path. Realme is a cheaper brand than Oneplus after all, won't make sense for Realme to have bespoke UI within the group.

                That's shockingly sad...
Is BBK trying to shut down OnePlus or what? Compared to Oppo, Vivo and Realme, Oneplus's updates have been rather buggy and sloppy.
Never had a single problem on my Oppo A94 5G and that one is a midranger. Same thing on my entry level Vivo.
                Something is up with them

Where are the MIUI haters now??? I don't see the flock of "experts" now proudly talking about the marvelous & gloriuos OxygenOS 12 ...

oneplus will go down like lg.. what a garbage their new UI is ... lol

OnePlus ia major joke in phone industry. While Oneplus 1 and OnePlus2 tried to really be a flagship Killers, starting from OnePlus 3 every year thongs was getting worse and worse while price climbing higher and higher. Now as last paragraph said. You have generic brand which is trying to milk its userbase to the bone. If you really thinking of getting a flagship killer, make yourself a favor and get Realme or IQOO, before they will become another generic crap like OnePlus :)

What a great review, GSMArena. Thanks a bunch and highly appreciated.

Looks like OxygenOS is no more and instead ColorOS/horrible iOS clone is their new "Android" ROM.

That's it, going to sell my Oneplus 9 Pro as soon as something worth upgrading to comes out, S22 Ultra maybe?

I was planning to get OnePlus because of the smooth and attractive UI I saw before but if OnePlus does not revert to the previous designs and codings I guess I have to say good bye to OnePlus. Sadly.

Started on my OnePlus journey with the OnePlus 3 back in the day. Will be ending it with the OnePlus 7 Pro when I move on to the Pixel 6 Pro. Sad ending to a great thought that was #NeverSettle.

I was told that it's pretty decent and nothing like the other BBK skins.

I've degraded my OnePlus 7t from oos 11 to oos 10 stable build because of its annoying buggy system and after looking at this oos 12 sorry color os it makes me stay where I am for rest of my life. I'm glad with what I've right now I don't need crappy visual changes with buggy system if I want updated os I rather will buy new device.

First time or one of the few times I agree this GSMArena reviews, as an owner of a 9 Pro Im out of words regarding to what OnePlus has done to it's software.

It now about patience, crossing fingers and hope to OnePlus gets this fixed by good, doesn't matter how much it takes, just do it the right way
