Dimensity 9000 tops AI Benchmark, leaves Google Tensor and Snapdragon 888 in the dust

15 December 2021
There are no official scores for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, but its expected performance is slightly below that of the Dimensity.

Bruh, I hope that it will still be cheaper than the snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (or whatever it's called)
      Screw snapdragon
Ya. I support bigotry towards snapdragon. It's time for their market share to be disrupted to a larger extent.

Solun1, 15 Dec 2021Yeah, "blah blah it has the highest benchmark score&qu... moreofc any chip will heat and throttle if ur ambient temps are like 35C, and NO the Dimensity chips dont throttle or heat as much. And there are no lags on the games I've played yet-CoD, BGMI, Grid, Sky, etc. All run flawlessly without much heating. Only if I run Sky on 60fps it heats up a bit more & drains quicker, but still no lag/throttle even after 2-3 hrs of gaming. I've a X7Max btw and it performs much better than the Nord2 as well just so u know, but I think X70 Pro performs even better!
Don't blame stupid optimisations or insufficient cooling by OEM on the chip, bcoz then in the same way I can talk trash about SD860/870 if I only judge by Xiaomi's poor handling of those chips where they throttle like crazy!!

KondriX, 15 Dec 2021Why a smartphone need so much power? A normal user don'... moreThat's exactly it; getting the fastest chip available may make sense to those who play graphics intensive games on their phones (forgetting for a second that those chips often heat up and not exceed the performance of older chips due to thermal throttling!), but for everyone else, there will be NO difference in your experience using a smartphone with any of the chips produced in the last couple of years. I have phones that use the SD855 and SD888 and they perform exactly the same in terms of speed/responsiveness for any app I try.

Why a smartphone need so much power? A normal user don't use even 70% of this power. Actually in the last few years I see no difference. I don't play games, cause I think playing games on a smartphone is just, mmm... cringe?

I'll be impressed if tests show the new chip doesn't thermal throttle. Achieving high benchmark scores means nothing if the SoC generates a lot of heat and loses half of its performance due to throttling in day to day use!
