1.samsung can get lower price parts frkm themselves(samsung display and samsung semi)
2.the QHD+ screen is much more expensive than FHD+ screen, normally cost 50-60usd more

My God. I can't even. The level of disappointment that stems out of the nexus that these Chinese manufacturers have collided in.

All of them seem to have gone against a proper zoom/periscope lens. Seems like will have to feed the troll Sammy again this year, just coz of the periscope lens(es) the S22 (ultra)Note will bring to the table.

Anonymous, 29 Dec 2021When you have a such small display you don't need a 2k... moreApple for years was criticised for having HD on small iphone 6, 6s and 7.
Tech sites bashed Z3/Z3+ for not being QHD like Note 4 and LG G4.

There is difference of using something like 420ppi on LCD RGB and 420ppi on Oled Pentile.
Phones today use screens at least 50% larger than 2013-2017 phones. Many do not have 50% more pixels.

Anonymous, 29 Dec 2021When you have a such small display you don't need a 2k... moreIf sensor size is not important, I wonder how a 61MP 3.8 micron FF can wipe the floor with 16MP micro 4/3 that has way larger pixels.

If your logic was any true, those old HTC would be on pair with many current phones today.
              Those 4MP 2.0 micron.

Myth larger pixels are better at night are long gone.
Many pro cameras of high res show better photos than 12/16MP when downscaled to lower resolution.

Anonymous, 28 Dec 2021All sony are better than samsung and omnivision counterpart... moreSamsung is not a very good example because the way is doing business is very strange. I'll explain: the divisions (photo sensors, display, memory, phone etc) should give the highest margin they can but individual, not as a group. That's why they buy some of the lower chips level from mediatek instead of producing some exynos. They want to keep the lines full of expensive chips (those made for Qualcomm) while the lower devices will be sold with a higher margin. Same strategy in every single department, like the GN2 that Xiaomi is using but not Samsung, display (mi 11 ultra has a better display than s21 ultra, not to mention vanilla variants)
And all this is obviously the politics of samy because they can build almost everything in the house, from display to chips and memory.

Anders, 28 Dec 2021So the Xiaomi 12 is a downgrade over the Mi 11 in terms of ... moreWhen you have a such small display you don't need a 2k resolution, so is not a downgrade. Second, the size of a sensor is not important, but the size of photodiodes that makes it. The bigger, the better because it can catch more light(the space between "pixels" are smaller in compare with the sensor with 108mp for example) and usually have a better DR. Less pixels means a quicker read out and focus, less heat.

Why is the price difference between 12X and 12 so small? For example, the basic variants cost $502 vs $580.

The difference perfomance between SD870 and 8 Gen 1 is far because SD870 is possitioned below SD888. The 12X variant lacks color spectrume feature, wireless and reverse charging. The packaging of 12X is also without charger include (unboxing on Youtube).

So, the price of 12X is not worth compared to 12.

Let's switch to realms for the first time, GT2 Pro is promising. We should not support Xiaomi for charging a premium for a sub premium phone. You price it similar to iPhones (if the global launch happens), and there are things you cut down on such as IP rating, Camera (only one usable, please don't disagree), design, copied wallpaper and UI, they even said they will learn from Apple and everything from now on is aimed at Apple. Goodbye Xiaomi, you won't be missed.
