While it is the end of the BlackBerry 10 OS, there are multiple sources about the BlackBerry brand coming back in 2022 with a 5G-supported smartphone. I'm just going to keep an eye on them since I never have any chance to use a BlackBerry device at all.

I do wonder if they had offered BBM on Android and iOS earlier if that would have at least kept them in the Mobile game from an IM perspective? They could have been a huge WhatsApp competitor right now.
Also does anyone remember a time where there was some BB services integration with Symbian and Windows Mobile? Must have been around 2005/2006 on Sony Ericsson Pseries, Nokia Eseries and some HTC TyTN and i-Mates? I wonder why they killed that? Back then then the carriers actually were selling Blackberry services that you paid for much like BIS but on Symbian and WM devices. I believe it was called “Blackberry Connect”, seems they had a great idea there and dropped it before it could have matured to something huge in the iOS and Android era.

Had the BlackBerry Priv. Best visually appealing phone ever had. There won't be anything like that ever again.

IpsDisplay, 09 Jan 2022This is what privacy was all about
None of these so call... moreBlackBerry was harvesting user data just like the rest of them. BBM didn't even offer end to end encryption, and OpenVPN, the standard that everybody used before WireGuard, was never supported on BB10

[deleted post]Samsung cannot destroy its customers, what should happen is that a Chinese brand like Apple comes out, and that it sells only high-level products, with 1A quality and more, because the problem of these Chinese is that they take out a phone every 3 seconds and that even confuses buyers with both the same phone but with different names! that's why no one takes xioami seriously as a company, Oppo should do the same

BeeBee, 09 Jan 2022Typing on my BlackBerry Classic!!!! It is not dead yet. BlackBerry Classic might be the GOAT BlackBerry!!
Correction: I got a 9900. Not a 9000. A typo. But I did own a 9000 as well and that thing was solid as a rock. I love the Bold form factor. The Classic was the spiritual successor to the 9900 or the one Kim Kardashian used for 5 years looking for them on eBay.

Bought a BlackBerry Bold 9000 last year for $5 brand new from OfferUp. It's used for music and old Family Guy episodes thanks to the lower resolution and being in landscape already. They can still be used as solid compact media players since their sizes are easy for one-handed use. The 9900 is a dream to hold.
RIP Palm, Nokia, HTC, LG, and BlackBerry. Chinese domination is upon us.

It only remains for Sony to fall completely and Samung take out its mobile division, so that we only have Apple, Google and the Chinese manufacturers that have damaged the market with their tricks, hopefully a manufacturer will emerge that comes and changes everything from top to bottom like what I use Apple in 2007 that something New is already missing!

the actual physical keyboard, i saw people typing while their eyes were not on screen and their mouth talking something else ... that is amazing
the privacy is great ... blackberry and microsoft windows pocket pc are not for stylish users, they are for professional use only ... then ... the idea come to make computer like vacuum cleaner so that every grandma can use it ... what they did not say ... is they moving people lifeto digital, unified everything, people share their data to the cloud, and without knowingly allowing remote access to their devices with no user removable battery even so in power off condition, minimal data transfer, mic, and camera can still on by trigger because the battery can be removed by user ... and when phone makers refuse to join this alliances ... simply put out of business ... the marketing is ... information belong to people must be reliable and accessible to public ... is it ???

Actually more than the hardware, BB Created the standards for quick imaging and the various integration if mails into work, and advanced chats. They were the forerunners to the majority of apps and technologies in software. Their hardware became irrelevant after a point, and unfortunately, that solely their end. That and the fact that BB services costed extra as a service, when all the extras could have been availed for free via so many free apps. That probably was the last nail in the coffin.
