I just want a Blackberry Priv with an updated hardware 😢
Why having such a phone is impossible these days?

Sad news indeed, as I've enjoyed owning (and using) Storm 9530 from 2012-16 and currently still owning Style 9670 albeit no longer used anymore

Why no flashback about the iPhone being first announced 15 years ago? It ended several OEMs. Palm, Nokia, HTC, LG, and BlackBerry saw their eulogy 15 years ago
"An iPod, a phone, and an internet communicator. An iPod, a phone... Are you getting it? These are NOT three separate devices. This is one device. And we are calling it iPhone. Today.. Today, Apple is going to reinvent the phone."

“…early naughties…”?!? :D
I don’t think old BB phones are quite dead but it’s not far from that. They stated that phones will no longer RELIABLY work meaning that they will work untill sometimes and I guess that sometimes will come in 2 yrs or so at least for calls and basic functions like text and internet.

As for now, BlackBerry didn't get anything from switching to Android, and maybe they could upgrade BlackBerry 10 and make something that could match Android or iOS. World that has just two OS platforms, it's easy for them to introduce some small changes as essential. Brands that couldn't make OS created UI on top of that OS, making phones laggy after some time. From my perspective, it's not android or iOS that killed BlackBerry os or Symbian, they were just good with what they already know and to late to see what is the future, and upgrade.
I have key 2 but passport is my favorite.

Maybe you should have ended article with yesterday statement from OnwardMobility, quote:
"We’ve read all your Facebook and LinkedIn comments, articles, Tweets, email messages and more, and not only do we understand your frustration, but we genuinely share it. Everyone has eagerly awaited additional information following our last announcement, but 2021 was truly a challenging year to launch a new phone, much less one with the high expectations we set and the fact that we want to get it right!
While we encountered various delays that prevented us from shipping in 2021, we will be providing more regular updates starting this month that will clarify and answer many of your questions about the ultra-secure 5G enterprise smartphone (still with a keyboard!) we’re bringing to market.
All of us at OnwardMobility are incredibly grateful for the community of loyal users for this opportunity. To the media: we’ll be ready to deliver news and speak with you soon and we look forward to it.
We sincerely apologize for our silence and truly appreciate your patience. In the meantime, we wish everyone a healthy start to the New Year!"

Peter-B, 09 Jan 2022https://www.blackberry.com/us/en/support/devices/end-of-lif... moreAre you really trying to convince me, that BlackBerry is not working, when I look at one fully functional?
Try google r/BlackBerry, they have pictures...
Also, you should look closely at the sentence - will not function reliably is not the same as will not work at all.

DMX, 09 Jan 2022It only remains for Sony to fall completely and Samung take... moreSony does not have mobile division.
Xperia belongs to Sony Electronics.
Also, even if one day they device to pull out, it does not mean it needs to be sold.
They can just shut down the project, like LG did.
I do not know why xiaomi users want all other to quit mobile business.
But somehow they do not wish Apple out of the game.
Secret love for Apple is the only answer, since even the owner/founder uses Apple products.

I got a blackberry bold 9720, 9900, 9780, z10 and z30, just lying in a drawer. All of them in almost-perfect condition with minimum wear&tear, except the 9900, which was chewed by a bunch of pups and still works. Man, were they some of the best phones ever. I still am not fully accustomed to virtual keyboards, relying solely on auto-correct.

DMX, 09 Jan 2022Samsung cannot destroy its customers, what should happen is... moreIt's called OnePlus
no one wants Chinese flagship phones that oneplus started selling mid and entry level phones
But so many people buy Samsung flagships as it's more than 30% of Samsung sells
Samsung existed before HTC, Motorola, Sony and etc but all of them are now corpses and same will happen to crapple
Samsung lives for ever

Just to mention:
small chinese Smartphone-maker Unihertz (www.Unihertz.com) currently offers two Blackberry-like Android-smartphones with physical keyboards and modern OS's and ships worldwide:
Unihertz Titan (Android 10, upgradable)
Unihertz Titan pocket (Android 11).
I cannot comment any further on these, because I neither own one of them nor have I tried them.
