In geekerwan video at peak speed sd 8 gen 1 consume 7.5w and dimensity 9000 6.8 while 6.8 is lower its no where near normal power consumption of cool soc which is 3w or lower.

When test Genshini impact at average resolution Dimensity 9000 consume more power than sd 888.

    Here is the video

So dimensity 9000 may overheat too.

Hopefully some of the performance advantage translates into better image processing via Computational Photography. Smartphone Image Sensors also need to start getting even better.

Hopefully Sony's new stacked CMOS image sensor technology with 2-Layer Transistor Pixel, should noticeably improve widening Dynamic Range and Reduces Noise.

Would also love to see the triple gain sensor by Sony and Ssung make it to smartphone sensors soon.

Maybe having both the technologies, simultaneously, would make smartphones way better at low light, and have much dynamic range.

That's certainly a pretty good score, managing to beat out the SD 8g1, although I will take this with a small grain of salt because of... y'know, what MediaTek did with benchmarks before.

However, some computations show that Qualcomm and other Android chipmakers have better performance-to-die-size ratio than Apple, which means that if Android chipmakers were to make the die size of their CPUs as big as Apple's, then they would handily beat the A series from Apple.

The SD8Gen1 already has lower CPU clockspeeds than the Dimensity 9000, yet somehow it still faces thermal throttling problems and delivers underwhelming performance even when not running at max clockspeeds.
Perhaps the gap will be closer when Qualcomm switches to TSMC, but MediaTek would still win due to larger cache size that generally leads to faster processing times.

Gone are the days when MediaTek is notoriously known for overheating problems. Ironically, it is now Qualcomm that's becoming more and more problematic with thermal throttling, much like how AMD reversed the battle against Intel with the introduction of RDNA.

The only area where MediaTek would fall short against Qualcomm is in the graphics part, and hopefully for the next Dimensities to come, they would do something to have a more competitive GPU to pair up with their class-leading (in Android space) CPU architechture.
