Dometalican, 25 Jan 2022Guess we wait for BBK to find out. Definitely eager to find out.Yeah. The find x5 is rumored to have the same camera sensors as the find x5 pro but it will be using the dimensity 9000 rather than the snapdragon 8 gen 1. The find x5 pro though won't be using the snapdragon ISP as it'll be using OPPO's own ISP instead so it'll be more of a comparison between Oppo's ISP versus the Dimensity 9000 ISP for that one. Hoping some other brands launch dimensity 9000 phones with a very good camera setup. Probably the find x5 or Vivo x80 pro might be the best bets.

Dometalican, 25 Jan 2022Guess we wait for BBK to find out. Definitely eager to find out. Will never know.
1) find x5 may be China exclusive again
2) Vivo will not give GN1 to non-pro plus, probably just gn5.
3) xiaomi may use HM2 to lower tier K series.

i feel that all of competing brands can lead to good things for consumers, lowering prices via competition. qualcomm has always had upper hand in features and performance, but charge high prices for high end snapdragon, within 5 years, prices doubled or 2.5 times for flagships.

Aierlan, 25 Jan 2022Yeah, on paper Mediatek's ISP looks better in terms of... moreXA1 uses Mediatek P20.
XA2 uses Qualcomm 630.
Both use same exmor imx300.
XA1 had better results for photos. (P20 is not able to record 4K like 630).
Old example, but anyway ...

You must not know what contractually binding deals ... moreI know brands sign deals that last years to have the chips guaranteed.
But this does not keep them to use other chips on main phones.
Qualcomm does not force Oppo to use 8G1 for X5 Pro while D9000 goes inside X5.
That's Oppo's choice. Oppo could easily use D9000 for Pro and 8G1 for X5.
Innthis case, Oppo thinks 8G1 is best choice for their main phone.

What exact final product were used for testing the exynos and dimensity?
Test samples may have toned down performance or indeed toned up performance, the cooling in samples may be different from final products?????
These tests are completely bogus. Also the only 8gen1 phone the Motorola overheats like crazy. No Samsung or Xiaomi phone would risk burning the used badly.....

For this year, it's unlikely to matter to the companies themselves in terms of sales. With the global chip shortage continuing demand will outstrip supply for these chips anyway (at least for the Dimensity 9000 and Snapdragon 8 gen 1). However, for the reputation and brand image of the brands going forward it could well have an impact.

IpsDisplay, 24 Jan 2022Well mediatek understands the importance of BIG system cach... moreYeah, on paper Mediatek's ISP looks better in terms of things like multi-camera support for HDR videos and high resolution camera support. However, the actual image processing is impossible to tell from the specs. The big question is will any manufacturer actually give a flaghship camera setup with a Dimensity 9000 chipset. It would be very interesting to see the same camera setups with two models with the chip just swapped between the Snapdragon 8 gen 1 and Dimensity 9000. In practice though i guess a lot of the Dimensity 9000 phones are going to come with midrange camera setups (average main sensor, poor ultrawide and a macro camera) that don't even take any advantage of the features that the ISP offers which is a shame. Would love to see a proper flagship camera setup on a phone with dimensity 9000 to see how it performs.

Benchmark means nothing (not too much differences here) ... but the ISP & Post-processing from MTK are mediocre and far behind Qualcomm & Exynos !
