A friend of mine has spent more on controllers than he had originally spent on his Xbox One.

I dunno, but if I jad to guess... It probably have some to do with announcing a phone, then making it globally available 10 month later at the announcement price point. How to compete with other brands that already is already cheaper by default and having discounts?

I had a PS1, PS2 and PS3, but then I got into PC Gaming and then I left console gaming behind. Games just got too expensive on console and I couldn't be bothered with subscriptions for online services.
As for their phones I wanted an Xperia 5 III but the price was too much for me, I'd hate to see Sony bow out of the phone trade, because you're starting to see more and more manufacturers charging more money for less features year on year. It is nice to see a phone with no notch or hole punch, and useful things like expandable storage and a headphone socket.

They should asked Intel to be secondary chip supplier ages ago, then made a deal with AMD or Nvidia to supply GPUs if Intel`s GPU chips is not sufficient.

Anonymous, 03 Feb 2022Please Sony, don't kill your mobile phone division lik... moreOf course they wont.

From the report it is clear that Electronics division has atm 76%, and will have 90% YoY profit increase, and judging by the report of Q3 also which states cameras/TV/audio and video electronics, not mobile, are the ones that lost profit, it seems Mobile is most stable income provider for Sonys Electronics division this year.

I don't know how regular buyer can consider buying sony phone, they are overpriced. They have to set prices bellow chinese brands, but they are aiming to apple price tags.. I had galaxy a52, bought pricier xperia 10 III because of the compact size and it was absolute shit , because worst camera I have ever seen since year 2014 and overal speed. In that price range (250-400) you can get OIS, better chipset. So then I bought iphone 11, paid 470EUR, best decision ever

                                https://ibb.co/DpmtBLK

Nowhere is it mentioned mobile dragged Electronics in decline, just mentioned in decrease of sales of Electronics overall.
In fact, the report clearly states Q3 decline was due to decrease in operating income from video and audio, TVs and digital cameras.

Overall, Electronics saw this decrease in Q3, but Q1-Q3 2021 saw Electronics profit YoY increase 76%, and forecast for Q4 says increase by surplus 20%.

                                  The PS5 is available everywhere... for 800$. I won't pay a 60% premium over Sony's 500$ pricetag.

They are such a big company. Try reducing the price of the phones then their phones will sell like anything because of such good brands. These big companies can actually bear some loss or reduced profits but greed to charge premium for their brands will make them shut the business. Nobody will buy Chinese phones if Sony or LG would have priced reasonably for their phones. LG is gone from mobile. Other big companies better learn from it.

Please Sony, don't kill your mobile phone division like LG did. I think in next few generations, people will realize Sony design is better and other manufacturers are removing features, while Sony is preferring function over form.
