I dont even know which type of consumer they're targeting. Near to none pro photographers would buy the Xperia Pro-I (eventhough their ad using one). Others? Hard sell.

Just for showing off? When it comes to bussiness, every company are making money. This article just shows how important that thing is according to Sony.

Re-strategized back your marketing part, Sony. Its been a long time since you triumph many many years ago, especially Sony Ericsson era.

        Last fiscal year, Xperia had positive $240 million.
        Final numbers are going to be same or just bit lower.
        It is not going back to negative, as much as xiaomi users want.

        For example, Taiwan. In december Sony sold 80% less devices than Realme, but money from sales was 2x higher.

        Japan and Taiwan alone already can sustain xperia.

          I am a big Sony fan for many years in exclusivity for almost all they produce but I am also linked to the real world, not the kind of "just believe and don't ask" fan. Truth is that in the last years I could feel a real decrease in quality, quantity and increase in prices although the price part is valid for all makers. It's not like they just dropped like a stone but a slight and continuous decrease that especially the fans could see. I buy only Sony for 20 years and all the time they were in the top with everything but not anymore. Still, I remain their fan but also I do work for my money and don't want to spend huge sums just for a logo that used to guarantee quality above all. We shall see, maybe it's a temporary trend but if not, well, the market is diverse and ready to take everyone's money.

If you mean the price of the PS5, no, it's the same regardless of the shortage issues. Sony and other companies don't benefit from the shortage issues. People who benefit from the shortage issues are scalpers.

                          I find it a bit odd that we're suddenly in such shortages of everything. It's now a bit hard to believe that we haven't been buying gaming consoles this much 3 years ago. Or graphic cards 3 years ago. Or laptop or cars or anything. If anything, we'd be buying them even more as everyone had more secure jobs and everything. Yet in mids of this clusterf**k pandemic, we're outselling all old years. Somehow. Seems like this thing is turning out to be manufactured scarcity to inflate all prices into the sky...

                            There's now way we can find a PS5 in my country other than camping in front of the game store.
                            No surprise their number of sold unit is lower when there's no unit to sell.

                              Maybe if Sony did not price their phones on a ridiculous price range they could be more successful in the smartphone business.
