Weekly poll: should Samsung have kept the Galaxy Note series separate?

06 February 2022
Merging the Note with the Galaxy S Ultra was done to make room for the Z Fold, but did it make things better or worse?

Fold should become the new note series.

Android has too many choices and no one wants to have buyer's remorse over a $1,000 phone. The iphone is also a status symbol. Samsung has not reached that level yet. Their only phone that has managed to do that is the Fold.

I am sure the XS feels more outdated to my honest purchase, despite the boring ios software updates it will continue to bring.. half of the new OS features don't come for older devices anyway in apple..

I rather prefer to buy an iPhone instead of a Samsung flagship at this price range. Whether it's a flagship or midrange the Samsung device gets lag and buggy eventually.

Yes... Indeed the Note series should have remained seperate... Notes were the crème de la crème of Samsungs technology... Intended for the serious cunsumer... Besides the S series should have never jumped from 10 to 20 just to childishly keep up with the year... Since Samsung has a habbit of blindly following in Apple's footsteps... Take a cue from Apple -- Atleast there is great deal of sanctity in Apple's systematic step by step progression of numbers... In Samsung's naming scheme of things -- Everything including flagships have very little lasting value.

The folds are the best … i love new technology

There are 2-3 million people who always chose S Ultra over the Note every year and Samsung just told these loyal customers off. I'm not complaining as I'm a Note user and we Note users are very vocal and have managed to coerce Samsung to produce a stylus flagship for more than a decade without competition.

But it does feel kinda icky screwing over other Samsung buyers just so I can have my preferred device.

Having separate Note and S series was way better.
But since S and Note series are just a costly gimmick compared to competition such as latest red magic series or Huawei P50 pro or Xiaomi Mi Ultra models i never seen a reason to buy a Samsung device which cost many times over its manufacturing costs.
I do understand a company needs to earn profit but giving less and asking more is huge no for me.
They defied i mean scammed their customers and hope one day the customers will return them all that cheating made upon them,

Anonymous, 06 Feb 2022Even the note 10 started with 12gb/256gb. So the s20....es... moreUntrue.

The Note 10 started with 8/256.

Since Samsung's flagship sales plateaued and started floundering, they stopped adding features to win spec sheet comparisons. They only add the bare minimum to sustain sales. That's why they eliminated QHD+ on all but the highest-tier flagship, removed the jack, the charger, have stuck with 8/128, and the numerous other downgrades.

Most people are fine with 1080p, no jack, no charger, 8GB of RAM, 128GB memory. It's on enthusiast sites like this you find ramblings. Unfortunately, with technology, if specs aren't improving, prices don't stop rising.

Mid to high-end laptops have been using 256/512GB of base storage for more than half a decade. You'd think prices will drop or they'd up the hoarding room. But no dice, prices continue to climb, while memory capacity remains the same.

This is why I never understood the people who claim(-ed) 4K on a smartphone screen was overkill or mocked multiple cameras. They were being incredibly naïve. When you tell OEMs a tech advancement is unnecessary; they remove it and keep the price the same and later increase the price using some other component upgrade as justification.

That's the case with RAM and storage. After yapping for years about how 128GB is plenty for the average person and no one needs 12GB of RAM, since some laptops don't have that much; same confused lots are moaning about Samsung shrinking base configuration to 8/128. What were you guys expecting?

I will get the 16GB/1TB Ultra. If it isn't released, I ain't spending more for less storage than I got with my S10+.

Samsung created the problem and when consumers kicked against their plans for Note Series suspension the company reversed it. Galaxy S22 Ultra or whatever name would be called is new NOTE!
