ALPHABOY17, 20 Feb 2022I'd rather have 1440p again. Even on a 5.8 inch screen... moreMost people can't see the difference. You are part of the few that can so you need to buy a different phone.

Anonymous, 20 Feb 2022Sorry guys, but having 120 Hz is much more important than h... moreNot really. What u need is 1080p with 60Hz. Whats more is something which is basically not needed. These panels are already so good. We had those for 6 years and it worked. We survived with either 1440p or 1080p 60hz. But companies are selling new features as important, something you need. But actually you dont. But still you wanna use regardless of backlash. Which is usually battery drain. Endurance 90h is too low and companies are making us believe that new features impact on battery is not big. But true winners are phones which battery doesnt drain after 3h of gaming.

ALPHABOY17, 20 Feb 2022I'd rather have 1440p again. Even on a 5.8 inch screen... moreAgreed. Completely. Even now seems some low to mid range phones are using some generic 64MP shooters. Same is going to be with screens. Low to mid range will get some generic 1080p with 120HZ, which consume lots of energy.

[deleted post]So you still don't understand that frame rates and refresh rates are two different things? If Samsung advertises that the S22 Ultra can refresh at 1 Hz, but in reality it can't do that, it's false advertising.

The screen can refresh at 120 Hz and the frame rate can be 1 fps. If the screen can't refresh at 1 Hz, then it's false advertising.

Sorry guys, but having 120 Hz is much more important than having 1440p. 120 Hz vs 60 Hz is clearly noticeable in everything you do, whereas 1440p vs 1080p is not noticeable at normal viewing distance, even 720p is clear enough at that distance to be honest.

Samsung is a company and it wants more profits, that's the reality! With improved cameras and brighter screens and rising chip costs etc, they must make cost-saving measure to keep their profits at same level (or more), so they chose 1080p instead of 1440p, which is a great choice to be honest as we still get all 3 types of cameras, bright and smooth screen, best processor, aluminium-glass build etc! Imagine if they gave older processor or removed telephoto lens instead...is that what you want? Just so u can brag about a number?

Having 1440p screen is just like a placebo-feature, cos you will never notice the difference in real daily life use, you must seriously be a spec zombie if you think not having 1440p is such a big deal.

Anonymous, 19 Feb 2022Just leave it with 120HZ. Battery life will be only minutes... moreYeah, just leave it at 60hz. You will gain battery time and never need to worry about that again and ... enjoy

Makimaki, 19 Feb 2022Someone with common sense. 120HZ, 144HZ...really? It on... moreI'd rather have 1440p again. Even on a 5.8 inch screen like s8 I can see the difference between 1440p and 1080p. 5-6 years all S models had 1440p screen, all of a sudden everyone's like "never needed it anyway"? But somehow all the hype is around 120hz, a big battery hog, way way bigger than 1440p 60hz...

The GPU throttling down the UI frame rate to 1fps is not the same as the panel refreshing the contents once per second, so Samsung should've written on the spec sheet of S22 series that the display's refresh rate varies between 24Hz and 120Hz, instead of 1-120Hz and 48-120Hz for S22 Ultra and S22/+, respectively. After all, S22 Ultra doesn't have a display that is capable of going all the way down to 1Hz (as for now).

Anonymous, 20 Feb 2022What are you talking about? Did you read the article? It do... moreThey are advertising 48-120.. and it is going to 24.. so it is a win for everyone.. regarding the S22 Ultra, The GPU is drawing 1 fps.. but refresh rates going to 24hz isn't a hardware issue.. but a software one, as confirmed by samsung. Moreover, if someone is not satisfied they can always cancel the preorder and they get a full refund.. Which brand goes to this extent to satisfy their customers? If you want something better, you literally have to make a brand for yourself

Anonymous, 19 Feb 2022i think samsung is crippling too much the s22 and s22 plus.... moreVery true. Camera setup on S22 and + isn't flaghhip. Flagship model should have best of everything Samsung can offer. Meanwhile S22 with smaller screen, bettery compared to S21 is nothing but pathetic marketing outcome. Many people will skip S22 models.

Anonymous, 19 Feb 2022You mean Samsung is trolling or lying?i feel like there's some miscommunication between the pr team and the the people who actually worked on the display

Anonymous, 19 Feb 2022You mean Samsung is trolling or lying?no you aRE

It makes me wonder how Apple's ProMotion feature works better on Samsung's OLED panels than Samsung on their very own phones.

The refresh display in the developer should be the current maximum refresh rate
If S21U displays 48hz, it will display 10hz-48hz with samhelper
Using the above arguments, it can be known that when the S22U displays 24hz, it may actually be 1-24hz
As for why it doesn't show 10 or 1, it depends on what numbers Samsung has opened in the system refresh display
