We've heard this chip referred to as the 8 Gen 1+ and it might run cooler - important for a relatively small device.

            Thats the best guess, from the only available list of the popularity sort.
            Other clue is amazons user reviews numbers...seems from them that 1 series sells more.

            As to which series sells more in realworld tho, I havent got a clue.

            I would trade my 1iii , if the 5v had 4k, 2160p screen and 700ppi, 16gb ram, dual 5g standby, 5500mah. Sapphire glass, or stainless Steel 916L premium. Used on rolex breitling watches.

                Well, I know 1 series is the most popular, but Xperia 5 series was and is the best of Sony IMO.
                Simply more compact, equaly capable, and better batterylife than 1.
                1 has some extra perks to it, but IMO not worth my attention.
                Xperia 5 series is the best balanced one.

Average consumers understand that the iPhone Pro Max > iPhone Pro > iPhone and the S Ultra > S Plus > S. When they see 1 4, 5 4, and 10 4, they may just buy phones from other brands instead. Most people don't buy Sony phones anyway, but it's not an excuse not to make the model names easy to understand.

                      They first released the Xperia 1, 5, and 10

                      Next year they released the Xperia 1ii, 5ii, 10ii

                      Then they released the Xperia 1iii, 5iii, and 10iii

                      At this point, everyone should be able to understand how their naming scheme works. If they are complaining about the Xperia 1iv, 5iv, and 10iv being hard and confusing then they're trolling.

                        Maybe if you could read his comment, you would realize that's not what he's saying. I've already explained this to you before, but there are 3 main things that help with image quality in a sensor.
                        1. Sensor size
                        2. Pixel Size
                        3. Resolution

                        After these, there are things like ISO, Exposure, shutter speed, etc, but that's adjustable later on.

How ironic the same person who's telling me to stop being closed-minded, when all he cries about is resolution without understanding how Sony approaches mobile photography. You were given plenty of explanations on why the resolution is at 12MP and you also don't seem to register that most of the QB sensors end up throwing out a 12MP image, so they have the same resolution at the end.

                          Please just stop, it's pathetic. Have some self-respect and actually complain about something else other than resolution. Let me help you out here, you can complain about Sony's basic UI, their lack of wireless charging on the Xperia 5 series, or maybe their small batteries.

                            And what are you going on about the RX100 for? I may be wrong due to Sony's horrible marketing, but none of the 12MP sensors in this thing are the same as the 20.2MP sensor in the RX100 right? Are they using false advertising there too and the effective resolution isn't actually 20.1, but 12MP? I'm no Sony fanboy so I wouldn't know. I mean 1 sensor can't have 2 different resolutions.
