Sony Xperia 5 IV rumor claims the phone will use a TSMC-sourced Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset

23 February 2022
We've heard this chip referred to as the 8 Gen 1+ and it might run cooler - important for a relatively small device.

I'm not going to restate my point again just for you to not read it again. And leave it to the Sony fanboy to only respond to me when I comment on a Sony article. Stop being so closed minded.

    Only reason I'm not buying xperia 1 iii or 5 iii right now cause just simply can't afford a phone upgrade yet. But now im starting to shop for a new phone and there's no flagship phone that has microsd support. Its definitely a deal breaker. Also selfie cam I hope will be improved. If that's the case, easiest trigger pull. First phone was xperia vz, then I switched to lg, I love my g8 but time to move on lol.

      SuuperBaka, 23 Feb 2022You're either a clown or a troll. Rank 1 is better ... more1 does make some sense, but how are you supposed to understand that 5 means small flagship and 10 means mid-range? Why not just call it Xperia X (5), Xperia X Plus/Pro/Max (1), and Xperia X Lite (10)? You understand it because it's what you're told by Sony. It's not because it's intuitive.

          Mobilemaster, 23 Feb 2022Sorry, but the S22 Ultra makes miracles even at full resolu... moreThe S22 Ultra simply cannot resolve true 108MP worth of resolution and details because of its Nona-Bayer nature of the sensor. Even a 24MP APS-C camera can resolve much more detail when you compare their RAW outputs, and it's not because the Samsung sensor is bad by any means, but it's simply the limitations of the technological concept.
          It had 108MP so that it can combine different pixels with different exposure times and expand the dynamic range without much need of fancy software image stacking method, but it was definitely NOT meant for capturing full 108MP, and neither was it said to be capable of resolving that much detail, hence, Samsung's camera software defaults it to 12MP instead of 108MP.

            By calling it the Xperia 5 Mark IV, it is very clear that the device is another Sony's lower tier flagship phone that's in 4th generation already, and one can expect that the next device to succeed it will be called the Xperia 5 Mark V. Simple enough, right??
            If you tried to understand this simple naming scheme right from the start, then you wouldn't have to say that it would be better if it was called by something else, because this naming scheme already is very streamlined, consistent, and easy to understand once you get it.

            But hey, people would always love to find something to hate against Sony, right??

              It doesn't change the fact that Sony's naming scheme is far easier to understand compared to whatever others are trying to do.
              From S10 to S20 to S21, wtf??
              From 8 to X to XS to 11??
              Idk what to say anymore, but that really is very confusing in comparison to Sony's Xperia (lineup category) Mark (generation in Roman Numeral) logic.

I'm not really super interested getting one. They're too expensive. I'm not really interested in tall phones that don't close like a flip phone.

                Sony really doesn't interest me much with phones. Only PlayStation, some of their movies, and Cobra Kai. Sony doesn't excel in things I want from a phone. Photography is not something I really care about.

                  Mobilemaster, 23 Feb 2022You missed my point. Please read it again. :)There aren't even full samples of the S22 ultra on GSMarena, so what are you talking about when you say full resolution

                      Mobilemaster, 23 Feb 2022Sorry, but the S22 Ultra makes miracles even at full resolu... moreThese non-bayer sensors have artificial full resolution.
                      You need to read signal individually and the apply tons of software tricks to emulate bayer CFA, since pixels with same colour filter are phisically neighbors (they do not move to get together).

                      Samsung adds fake details to the photos, there are no real details. Not even pro lenses of full frame can take advantage of this much high resolution, obviously cheap plastic lenses will not , even worse these blurry ones used by this phone.

                      When you have a bayer 48MP and downscales to 12, it looks better than 12 of same sized sensor. But same does not happen to quadbayer/nonacell etc ..

                      Have heard many times from photographers that many phones have photos usable enough to print smaller sizes, like ipad screen size print. But photos from samsung were not proper for printing.

                                      Rank 1 is better than Rank 10?

                                      Their naming scheme is actually not hard to understand unless people deliberately try to mess it up.

                                      1 = Big flagship
                                      5 = Small Flagship
                                      10 = Mid range

                                      The roman numerals are just the generation of that phone. It's pretty consistent and since they only release 3-4 phones a year, it's easier to keep track of.

                                        Also, samsung applies tons of sharpening to the jpeg to make ppl believe texture is excellent. All fake details. The dng file has way inferior texture than jpeg.
