As Apple do not have fragmentation on the sales, cheap phones could be previous apple iphones 3g, 4 and 4s. Those could be use to enter low market products as those phone specifications are old and cheap now.

The iphone is a prestige social symbol because its famous.
There are of course, competitors, but none is as recognisable as it is...
Apple has a great packet to appeal to those ppl, it is simple, so they can be as lazy and as limited as they want and still look smart when they use/hold it.
And it makes no compromises in quality.
Which happens to be their worst enemy.
The reason they buy expensive, clothers cars and devices, it is because of their reliability.
The myth that drives forwards companies like Mercedes and made Nokia the worlds leading power.
The more expensive a product is, the more quality materials it can afford to have and many ppl can and will afford twice as much for 5-10% of extra quality/reliability.
I am not a ifanboy, but i do give credit where credit is due.
And apple deserves all the credit, one can give for liability issues and top level quality.
If they make a cheaper product, their customers will feel that they have made a compromise in quality,
this is the markets/clients logic.
This is where Ericsson and HTC failed.
Samsung certainly can match the iphone in prestige and quality, prolly even beat it, BUT, as far as status symbols go, the rich ppl want to make sure their authority isnt doubted,
so, an exotic firm that is not recognised, could be doubt, a firm like Samsung, which also has very affortable models, can be doubted,because not everyone is bothered to know all the models of all companies,
but Apple having only premium priced, recognisable phones, cannot be doubt!
This is a status they have fought v.hard to achieve with Steve, a cheap phone would risc it and hurt the hard built myth.
Apart from the wealthiest countries, and the fact that there are smaller salaries, Apple products have much higher prices than they have in the US, Canada and the richiest EU countries, so it really becomes quite an achievement to buy an iphone, when you could have bought 3-4 other alternatives, or smth almost equally good, but in nearly half its price.
When you can afford double the price, for 5% of extra performance or quality, it means that you belong in the upper market segments, as a buyer.
A demonstration of this superiority, is easily expressed by a globally recognisable premium model.
The iphone supports that attitude and that attitude supports the iphone.
Of course there are ppl who respect their money, ppl who have other priorities and ppl who believe that they dont have to proove anything to one, but the fact remains that a large part of the iphone customers and many more who dream about it, consider it a status symbol and one of the main reasons they throw the extra cash is that.
We, in this forum, are less likely to share this opinion, because we do care about the specs and capabilities, many ppl dont bother with.
But Apple is and should be bothered about their wishes too. Along with the wishes of tech enthusiasts like us,
they do and must care for the wishes of the men that are not bothered with those.
It is not by coincidence why the Apple customers are not bothered by the restrictions, power users like us, are.
Neither because of the highers costs the same apps have in their OS.
They dont, because they can afford not to, this is what Apple provides in abundance!
Right or wrong, the market will chooce in the end, i am happy as long as there are options for everyone.

well.. 3.5 inch is right size for phone.. 7 inch tablet is absurd.. iphone 5 has no problems.. why do this company lives in denial..

Apple lost its' charm when Steve Jobs passed away.
If he was alive today, albeit, the iPhone 5 wasn't gonna have any problems, including the maps and some other stuffs.
Hopefully iPhone 6 will be better. -_-

What exactly premium user means for you? In Germany, if you are a 18 years old and work half time you can afford to buy a crapple. Everyone here has crapple or samdung. So to understand that half are premium and the other half are dung? Ah, you are referring to the snobs? The people that have to much money to remind them self that they should help others? They won't use crapple my friend. There are way more expensive phones for them to buy. Made of gold/platinum/titan/silver and crafted with blood diamonds or whatever other "high class" materials. Second of all, if crapple would intend to sell there devices to the so called "premium" (whatever that is) users. You wouldn't find it free on contract, would you? You wouldn't find it in 14 years old hands either, now, do you? Also you definitely wouldn't find it everywhere 5-fth step you take... What they declared is for people to believe. And people believe it for shore. The only thing that will happen if crapple will lower their prices would be this: Suddenly the premium feel of your "high end" expensive device will become a crapp made in China. Now they wouldn't want to do that. Wouldn't they? This guys are well educated people. people that know the human psychology, people that invested money into learning how to make others buy. How to convince others that is good. So, it is not about the device, it is about how you sell it;). It is just a premium feel device, not a device for "premium" users. And there are thousands of premium feel devices that i can say are way better then apple.

It's really hard to make a phone for 250$ by Apple (which is considered to be cheap for unlocked phone), because the profit margin for IPHONE 5 is more than that.

Thats arrogance for ya, apple's customers think no one can have/afford what they have when the sad truth is not much people give half a rat's behind for such an overpriced item, its not that people cant buy it, its just not worth the money to fork out.
You buy the brand, full stop.

Puh-lease! iPhone is a mid-functioning smartphone priced as premium. Yes, we all know how "smooth" the UI is, but it's never a fully multi-tasking device. Most of its users don't care about its mono audio recording while recording HD videos. It doesn't even have the decent function of direct e-files transfer or memory expansion.
Apple is keeping the high price for the hype. Period.

a lot of people know how to choose good phone now. apple fans are always saying status symbol or those who can only afford. dont fool yourself because apple is not the leading player in that 3rd world. people with money are educated or smart and they want to explore and achieve something on a phone. thats why they choose the open source android. not iphone
the problem is they need to be more competitive in all parts of earth. i will buy an iphone if they gonna cut the price coz i know its the only amount an iphone deserved
