The issues with these Sony phones are that they are 2-8 years behind in specs besides 4k res and 3.5mm port. Not marketed, released months and months later, and barely available in most areas or carriers.
And worst of all despite all the cost cutting and money saving in hardware, marketing, and availability still cost much more than others.

The iPhone 13 feels much bigger in hand despite having a 6.1 inch screen like the Xperia 5 III, because it's wider.

A typical Xperia design. In addition it takes up the flat edges of the Z5 range, I think that according to Sony, the Xperia 1IV will have the chrome silver color like the Z5 Premium. I love. I've been using the XZ1 Compact for 5 years, I think it's time for a change and there's a good chance it's this smartphone.

If it works, is within budget, and fits their taste then they'll buy it. Most of the people who say they care about phone design are the loud minority of "enthusiast users."

I own the Xperia 1 Mark 1 and it has the exact same crappie sensor for 3 generations. If they don’t fix this and some other issues I’ll consider looking elsewhere
