Because they are talking about GPU not CPU, while apple A6 maybe weaker than many other Android devices, they pack the most powerful Mobile GPUs on the market, in fact ipad 3 has the same GPU as the PS Vita which is already a impressive GPU, the iPad 4 is even more powerful which has twice the proformance. So this is why iPad always has the best proformance in gaming while not as fast in browsing to something like nexus 10.

When I heard PoverVR I was happy. But now I'm confused because this GPU is not as good as in iPad4. I expected a very powerful Mali. What's happening to the SIV? :S

Why not the use the next gen PowerVR should be 2-4 times faster then current models and also has low power consumption.

But even with this upgrade,s4 will still have plenty more pixels to push than iphone 5 so it's performance remains to be seen.

Reason, both them did not manufacture their CPU. They've got the crappy Taiwanese semicon manufacturer built the CPU for them, which I've always think their quality are bad.

This app is not compatible with your device(Tablet),fine i will get tablets that will get all the apps . Sorry Safari cannot download this content ,You cant send files through bluetooth ,WHAT ? THE Order one with no apps can do this. Fine its like i will be buying (R)un (T)ime no dont buy run time it cant run legacy apps yeah like i run legacy apps on the one(Tablet) with no apps.

I am looking forward for a tegra4 device this year their 72 core GPU will have ultimate graphical performance.
I think samsung can loose their benchmark crown this year to some other company , wish i get a device this year with great storage, AMOLED display & tegra4 or even faster SOC.

Congratz Sammy, that's the faster chip you have created yet (if true) and as long as power consumption and thermals are in place S4 would probably be the bomb, miles ahead than the competition (a bit how S1 was for its time).
Away with this Mali nonsense, back to VR, back to (graphical) performance...

Is not the fans decision, but Samsung's alone. Probably the Mali GPU is not ready, and maybe not needed(the PowerVR 5 on SGS 4 can support OpenCL and DirectX 10) for the SGS 4(maybe it will be used for tablets only).

Iphone 5 too has triple core gpu but it's 543 mp3.wonder if there's a big diffrence between 543 n 544.
it would still be interesting to see how does it stack up against current top mobile gpu's.

Now, tell me more about how that GPU will power a 9.7 inch 1536 x 2048 resolution screen. Not to mention, a slightly weaker GPU coupled with an overly more powerful CPU, will perform better than otherwise. Gaming or not.

But then, the difference is made by the software and the memory speed. Anyways, iPad 4 rocks! And SGS 4 I'm sure it will be very close in performance if not, who knows, better.

you said it yourself Exynos Octa CPU vs A6 architecture.
GSMArena isn't comparing CPU part but GPU part which is another "component" embodded in those architectures.
Take for example an Intel Core i7 CPU, now add to it a graphic card : GTX680. That's your GPU. Put a slower / cheaper card instead: GT420. Now you are getting lower performance.
Now think to Samsung Exynos Octa 5 is your Core i7 + GT650 and A6 is a Core i5 + GTX690. You should understand where you ll get the most raw graphical performance.
