The Magic4 series is launching in China starting with the vanilla model later this month, then the Pro and soon the Ultimate.

    I doubt that, imx800 is rumored for Mi 12 ultra which had Samsung GN1 sensor on 11 Ultra, which is same size as Honor 4 ultra sensor size, if xiaomi is switching its likely imx800 is bigger sensor

          Would take 5000+mah battery over fancy cameras any day. Not everybody needs professional quality photos but running out of battery when you not near a charger and having battery anxiety is way worse imo.

                  Semicon has 12 MP 1/1.31" with global shutter.
                  Vivo 80Pro+ may have exmor as well, bit larger than GN1.

                  Not even counting 486 and 506 used by Pro-i and R6.

Wast... moreI know they won't produce copious new sensors, they might just produce 2 or 3 new sensors for this year, a new sensor for midrangers, maybe. Sony just wants to add some briskness to the competition since it has become really stagnant recently.

                        It is 1/2", like P50 series.
                        Same size of those 48MP imx58X.

                          Sony created the tech (then license to other). Showcase to costumers and then whoever gets interesting, tell the size , AF type and resolution.

                          Wrongly , many people here think custom sensor is like cpu. That one designs and someone manufactures. No , it is not.

                            64mp on ultra wide is great, so is improvement in main camera. Unlike some brands releasing the s(h)ame thingy.
                            New ISP is dream come true, now just how it shoots, for vivo it goes also like hi res+ raw.
                            At least on paper it's promising. But not global release, so something else may come sooner.

                              SA466, 17 Mar 2022What's the point of having a custom imagr sensor?Having a custom image sensor allows you to develop your own bespoke image processing algorithm without relying on the chipset's built-in image sensor.

                                And btw, I just noticed something: $1,260 in Mainland China? That can be hard to swallow. At some point, it could cost up to $1,500 when going outside China.

                                  Too little too late. Mi11ultra from LAST YEAR had the same 1/1.12 main sensor and also 5x optical zoom instead of lousy 3.5x. Nobody will buy this overpriced piece of ...Honor Magic.

                                      What's the point of having a custom imagr sensor?

                                        The magic4 ultimate is quite impressive, as it has the same size sensor as the mi 11 ultra while having a larger aperture.
                                        It's also only $60 more expensive than the worldwide variant of the 11 ultra.
