Anonymous, 05 Apr 2022Samsung stills sells microsd cards with 512gb as the larges... moreBut the transfer speeds of microSD cards are VERY low compared to UFS3.1 storage, though (I'm not even gonna compare it to Gen 3 or 4 SSDs). They ARE a bigger bottleneck when you're trying to shoot 4K or 8K videos with the fancy new codecs like AV1 or ProRes, causing slow speeds and saving issues when the card just can't keep up. I bought Samsung's own EVO Plus microSD (256GB) and Windows Central (in CrystalDiskMark) only got around 95MB/s sequential and just 9MB/s R/W with small files when they tested the same microSD; even the "fastest" full-size SD card by SanDisk can only go up to "260MB/s sequential".
The UFS 3.1 storage in the S22 can do (in AndroBench) around 1GB/s in sequential and about 250MB/s R/W with small files (the one that really matters), by comparison. There is NO trouble saving and continuously writing very big files with such a fast storage.
The fact is, manufacturers had to ditch microSD cards because they realised they simply are not fast enough compared to full-size SDs and flash/SSD storage...

S22+ 256gb is ~£1000, which is at least £100 too much, probably more like £150 too much.
However the "free" buds and Disney+ promotions finish soon, so I expect the prices to drop a bit in a month or two.
Samsung in last few years seem to put the initial price really quite high with "free" stuff, and later drop the price to boost sales again 🤷♂️

It's hard to think of any competing Android OEM nowadays since some of the known names compete amongst themselves. Like Xiaomi has Black shark, Redmi and Poco. Oppo has Realme, OnePlus and Vivo...maybe Lenovo, Asus, TCL, ZTE and Google? Unfortunately, Pixel phones are not locally available in our country.

The real reason is not headphone jack but samsung give plastic back the flagship model and lower resolution 1440 to 1080 to his flagship s series. what samsung want to treat s series . rubbish? then all give to s22 ultra and charge a premium. why want to force people to pay 1600 dollar to get a good phone.

Gos has nothing to do with poor sales. The prices are very high and the software problems from previous generations make people reluctant to a new buy. Not to forget the Exynos chips that are a disgrace because they didn't do as much as promised at all.

I'm not gaming on my phone, so I don't care about scandal. I quit considering S22 since it it crippled comparing to S21. And camera setup is only midrange comparing to Ultra. S22 and S22+ are not a flagship phones.

I love samsung… They are not apple of android world… they are better.. I swear I am typing this on my m1 ipad pro… but phones..l I can never stop loving their phones.. using z flip 3.. and wouldn’t swap for anything in the market now
