34SciencePigeon, 17 Apr 2022Professionals Do not have enough time to waste by sending, ... moreMost professional studios have a few backup machines that they can use while the broken ones are sent to repairs, but many of them (especially smaller ones) lack a dedicated department specialized in detecting an internal failures occuring inside a custom made PCs. Spare parts order could also take a day or two depending on where you live. You wouldn't get a consistent, long term warranty for the entire machine if you built towers yourself, either, since each of their component have been manufactured by different companies and come with their own warranty services.

once apple ... always apple for the future ... main reasons are feeling of simplicity and speed

what i know from 80386 era up until now ... matrox graphic is the big name for video and photo editing and display, cirrus logic processor has withdrawn, back then, oxygen video card, powered by cirrus logic, is scary monster in video editing ... whereareas nvidia and ati are big names in gaming, back then are diamond multimedia and 3dfx

I get the 'it just works' thing. A PC also works, but it requires a bit more maintenance and knowledge maybe. But I prefer that above giving money to a 3 trillion dollar company making 150 billion $ profit to which you have now contributed. Congrats. Soon everyone will use their crap and choise will no longer be an option. They can charge 10.000$ for it and people still will pay. It will become like an overpriced trabant :D

I agree that Apple's M1 processors are great in many areas, but I disagree with this statement from the article: "A quick check online shows that we could've built a Ryzen 9 5900X machine with a 12GB Nvidia RTX 3060 and 32GB of RAM for slightly less than the Mac Studio."

For $160 less than the base-model Mac Studio, you can get a PC with a 5950X, 6600 XT, 64GB RAM, and 2TB of Gen4 NVMe storage (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pFfv3y). This gets you four cores/eight threads more and twice as much RAM as the PC mentioned in the article. In the linked parts list, I've included a 5-pack of Arctic's P12 PWM PST fans since we don't want the machine to be "much noisier" than the Mac Studio.

If you'd rather have more GPU horsepower, you could also get a computer with a 12700K, 3070 Ti, 64GB RAM, and 2TB of Gen4 NVMe storage for slightly less than the base-model Mac Studio (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rQzfv3). This has a significantly faster GPU compared to the PC from the article (~50-70% more performance than a 3060). Like the other build, this one has Arctic P12s and a high-airflow case.

Again, I understand that Apple's CPUs have many advantages, but the PC configuration in the article is rather unoptimized in terms of getting the most performance per dollar. Both of the builds I linked would be better than the 5900X/3060/32GB RAM computer in the article, and both cost less than the cheapest Mac Studio (while having twice as much RAM and four times the storage). Also, the statement that a PC would be "much noisier" is inaccurate—most builds can be near-silent with a decent fan setup and a simple fan curve.

The underside looks better than the topside? Who could've known!

I guess GSMA doesn't like using the most powerful specs for the money. If they went and looked at benchmarks and real world tests on the fastest CPU and GPU on Notebookcheck, they would be using an Intel Alder lake i9 or i7 H/K + and Nvidia 3080 TI instead of the poorly performing Mac Studio. Mac Studio is all hype.

Anonymous, 17 Apr 2022You got to love those Apple Haters 🤦🏻‍♂️ They will simply h... moreIts not our problem if you wanna drop money to those liars double faced executives at Apple for their hyped products.

Every time they launch something, fanboys like you act as if they recreated the Universe. They were using Intel just 2 years ago and making some retarded designs with it, like that Macbook Air that had a fan and a copper pipe just for decoration since it nevet actually touched the chip.

We throw hate on them bc websites like TheVerge and others get paid to sugar roll everything they do and act as if they have never done stupid stuff before and paint them as acts of revolution. Not to mention fanboys like you cheering them for any crap they release.

Now that they have launched their own chip, everyone's acting like they never did anything wrong on Macs, and that they always had have the upper hand. (while forgetting the infamous butterfly keyboard they decided to keep on several models for years, the inadequate cooling on the macbooks, getting rid of ports, glued down batteries, broken flex cables, and a long list of other issues in Mac alone).

Please get out of that ecosystem and see for yourself how things are done in other places. It will do you good.

5 days of saved time in a year is a joke compared to how much that Studio costs and how unrepairable it is.

I dont know if this was a good idea, and it would be good to compare it to a proper Windows PC. You dont need to go that far in specs in order to get something good.

[deleted post]Rather than showing off your hatred for Apple, just go and serch what you asked me on YouTube. There are many "unboxing videos".
