Hemedans, 24 Apr 2022But they didnt when Nokia Stopped making Symbian Phones the... moreinterestingly nowadays Nokia phones have Android One and Android Go and you get an amazing software experience and interestingly Nokia and Google Pixel are the only two brands that offer Android One, in my opinion Nokia is still cool

I remember these phone wars like it was yesterday. It literally feels like yesterday. I remember it vividly like 4th & 5th gen video game wars in the 1990s. The stuff Lady Decade talks about on YouTube, I know like 95% of the main stories.

Android just took over what Nokia failed to do with Symbian and then Maemo and Microsoft did with Windows Mobile. So Windows Phone and Meego came out way too late. Because 3 to 4 years is a long time in tech if iPhone came out in 2007 and Android in 2008. Divided people already on Symbian and WinMo. No app backwards compatibility. No real ecosystem. So Nokia and Microsoft teamed up and failed again.

Palm actually came up with the most innovative stuff in 2009 but webOS just felt DOA. Terrible hardware. Was on the dreaded Sprint. But it gave us gesture swipes like 8 to 9 years before iOS and Android did it natively. Also had wireless charging which was 3 years before Nexus 4 got it. Matias Duarte worked for Palm before moving to Google.

-Trix-, 24 Apr 2022Have you heard saying picture says more than 1000 words? Wh... moreyes symbian browser was the problem but i dont remember during symbian era people to depend on native era, it was normal for someone to use opera mini, opera mobile, ucbrowser, bolt etc.

i told you i dont want marketshare i want real numbers, let me show you how easy to fake marketshare

      - company A sold 20 orange alone it has 100% marketshare
-company A increase sale to 36 orange company B enter and sell 4 orange

in marketshare company A will drop from 100% to 90% not because sales decrease, but because new player entered.

-then Company A increase orange sales to 76, company B 20 then Company C 6

marketshare will show Company A decrease from 100 to 90 to 76% but in reality sales increase a lot.

nokia and symbian sales didnt decrease they increased a lot even full year 2010 they sold 100m units, i repeat again not single company had half of Nokia sales the closest one was BB around 48m. marketshare decreased because new player entered

here you are just lying you dont want to provide number and munipulate statistics via marketshare.

and if you want to compare features you are welcome i can name hundreds of things symbian did 2007 and ios cant do 2022.

Hemedans, 24 Apr 2022"Yes it dropped exactly because of that, after people ... moreHave you heard saying picture says more than 1000 words? What about video then

https://youtu.be/Wi5L_rQwsxE Check the 1.55, that there shows why Symbian is now dead, it’s really that simple.

Here’s galaxy s2 browser for comparison, https://youtu.be/GSZTRGvHo6s not as smooth as iPhone 4s, but like different planet compared to N8 browsing.

” to get clear picture of the situation give me the real sale number, show me during that period 2007 to 2010 if sales did drop,”

Both profit and marketshare were dropping every Q. Which meant Nokia was selling ”wrong” phones. They would have needed galaxy and iPhone competitor. They had to let go workers and safe money, Nokia situation were very bad even when they sold good amount of phones, but they weren’t making money like before, so for the company it was very bad situation.

” so from 2007 to 2010 people didnt try android and ios then immediately 2011 they decide to try ios and android then left symbian?”

Sure they did, that’s why Nokia was losing their share faster and faster like my data shows, which i posted. Like i said if you have brand name these things doesn’t happen right away. Just like after Huawei ban they did very well for the next year and then the results started to show more and more that they don’t have competitive product without google services.

https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Android-OS-Market-Share-Compared-to-Symbian-39_fig24_311493358 see since q1 2010 Android have had really strong fast growth.

This also is pretty awesome data video to show what happened in phone markets between 1999-2019.

            https://youtu.be/MMyMB4zm9so

This shows very well the rapid growth of Android and how big it was already before that burning platform memo, so just like i said, things were happening in background lot before. End of 2019 Q3-Q4 was the time when Android started to have some serious growth. It makes sense as i woke up for Nokia situation around Q2 early and like the video shows the huge growth for Android in whole 2010. 2007 Symbian marketshare peaked and since that it been down so no gain in marketshare and like i already pointed out, this also shows very well that Symbian marketshare were down already 25% Q3 2010 when Elop said that burning platform thing.

Hemedans, 24 Apr 2022"Yes it dropped exactly because of that, after people ... moreThe fact is Elop was hired to sabotage the company.
Apple was the clear leader when looking at iOS 3.2-4.1 and the iPhone 3G-iPhone 4. Whilst Google was also behind with AndroidOS (v2.0-2.3) and the HTC Dream-Nexus One. Even further behind was Microsoft with Windows Phone 7, and their initial models. Meanwhile, Nokia themselves were YEARS behind with their Symbian software and Slow hardware.

Had Microsoft released WP7 back in 2008 they may have been fine. What they really needed to do was to release Windows10 Mobile in 2011, ahead of Google's revolutionary Android 4.0.3 system and the likes of the Samsung Note 1. Any new software-platform released after 2011 was destined to fail due to the sheer dominance of Apple and Android. It makes sense for Nokia to go all-in for such a scenario.

But that's not what happened, and MS deserved to lose the biggest business opportunity and tech market in the past decades. So Nokia had no reason to go with MS instead of say Google. Or better yet, they had another option. Years back Nokia was experimenting with Linux Distros and open-source software, and they developed Maemo. Then they went into a strategic partnership with Intel, to form MeeGo, but that was sabotaged by Intel and Microsoft. So we could have had the likes of Sailfish OS v4.4 back in 2010, and possibly have a better competitor against Apple/Google in the market. And it would've been early enough to compete in the marketplace before Apple/Google dominance was permanently established. Whilst, I do feel sorry for the likes of Palm, Blackberry, Canonical, and some small alternatives like BadaOS which died from the market.

-Trix-, 24 Apr 2022” SO symbian marketshare didnt drop because people hate Sym... more"Yes it dropped exactly because of that, after people got their hands on iPhone and Android phones they noticed how much behind Symbian is. Symbian average price, phones profits and marketshare were down. Even before we heard a word about Elop the signs were in air that Symbian is not the OS which can keep up with competition."
so from 2007 to 2010 people didnt try android and ios then immediately 2011 they decide to try ios and android then left symbian?

and those graphs you provided are just statistical lies windows phone grew 300 to 400% did it sell more than Android and ios? no it didnt. you can manipulate marketshare to favour new company its easy.

to get clear picture of the situation give me the real sale number, show me during that period 2007 to 2010 if sales did drop,

That Apple is trying to create a walled garden in the smartphone industry with their lawyers indicates just how accurate Samsung’s television commercial is. The iPhone cannot complete on merit in the marketplace.

All in all, anyone who buys an iPhone at this point is an image conscious, fad following idiot. Android and the Android manufacturers are offering faster, more flexible and more reliable devices with a minimum of hype.

Yes in Future Android or Maemo if it was alive would Replace Symbian But that process would be slow, Untill Kitkat 2014 Android was really slow at low End, it was Almost un usable, then Even Today you need Atleast phone like Redmi 10c with ufs storage and atleast bigger core to get good experience with Android. There was market for lowend Smartphone os, Symbian Could do same thing as android but using less resource.

They bring new tech to the marketplace . New is change and people hate to change .

Their products are more expensive , which tends to bring about an air of exclusion?

…. They are very much in control of their brand . and they dictate the user experience . Which a lot of people don't like .

Above all. They are on top .

When you are on top. You become a target . People want to take you down .

Articles are written to try and damage that brand .

Competitors copy and propose why they are not so great.

People read these things and for opinions .

In short. “” Haters gonna hate . “”

Incase of performance, reliability and usability apple becomes the not the worst company (best). It might seem the answer is focused on products but its brings up the company as a whole.

-Trix-, 24 Apr 2022” apple is the most hated company on earth.” By who? you... moreAs Google/Android Developer and growing up on computers (my first being the apple 2) followed by a Macintosh and several Microsoft PCs after. I don't hate Apple, in fact I like Apple, same feelings go for Microsoft. There is a reason I choose Android for my smart phones and tablets though. For one, I stated I don't hate Apple, but let's make it very clear that I do strongly dislike Apples iOS driven iPhone and iPad, why? If the iPhone ran Mac Os, well, I would atleast respect Apples Mobile devices. I do have a strong hate for IPhone/IPad users who respond with superficial answers that are just rediculous, and downright ignorant. On this very thread, one struck my nerves (Katy Perry analysis) and the "Popular" theory, a typical IPhone sheep response. Nothing technical at all about that response, just nonsense. Most iOS users don't have anything direct to say to put down Android anyways, its usually those Katy Perry analogies or some other answer pertaining to "hatin on iPhone because it's popular" scenario. Well, for starters, get real! If that is you're answer to why people dislike iPhone, I feel confident that you're not exactly "tech savvy" you own an iPhone, which runs iOS which confirms my statement on so many levels. Getting back to the point, there are a lot of reasons why I myself cant stand iPhone/iPad and iOS. Let's get started. When smart phones and tablets first entered the scene, I saw this as a game changer in technology, I immediately saw the potential, and decided and good smartphone would be a small computer in your pocket, a compatible companion for on the go computing and multitasking. When tablets started to make waves, I viewed it as the next revolution to my idea of smart phones, and decided that a tablet should really be that companion for serious mobile computing and felt that a good tablet should have almost all the features and openness of a laptop minus the CD/DVD drive. Tablets provide easier mobility along with a large enough screen to perform serious tasks, and a lot of people practically replaced their laptops with tablets. I myself, noticed some major differences with Android and iOS driven iPad. For those who only browse the web, hit up social networks, blogs, maybe Netflix on the go, and gaming, the iPad is suitable. When it comes down to it, the iPad does those things well, but that is a short list of things if you are looking at the overall picture. Most iOS users, have no real argument against Android, well...not anymore. With Android Kit Kat now running most high end tablets now, there is no comparison to the two competitors. Android wins hands down! My nexus 7 2013 does things that the iPad can't, and will never, as long as iOS is running the show. The iPad is a screen with powerful internal hardware but the buck stops there. The physical iPad lacks functionality as it lacks ports, and being an apple device, well, your trapped in the apple ecosystem. IPads cloud integration is...well... Terrible, completely awful and nice try, iOS advocates, we don't dislike your platform because its "popular" we dislike your platform because it is lacking, offering any real world functionality, multitasking and the limited iOS keeps a tight leash of true productivity. I myself, like to have fun too, but I also need a device that can handle business, and do major things that a full blown PC can do when I don't have access to one. Android has done things for me, that iOS wouldn't be able to, for instance, provides the security on my network, that's right, my Linux based android tablet provides the security on my network, Microsoft has horrible security, but my Android tablet holds down my network from attackers (which is vital for a programmer as we are more vulnerable) and if anyone knows anything about anything, Linux is the king of networks, and serious programming tasks. I weighed my options in the beginning and quickly realized that Android was my choice without hesitation as it completely fit my idea of a good mobile platform. Android is the perfect companion for mobile computing and serious tasks, there is nothing an Android device can't do, period! I have never looked for a particular function on my Android device and ended up coming out disappointed. I always find what I'm looking for and I have 176 applications on my nexus 7 2013 and as a programmer I know that atleast 130 of these applications do things that limited iOS just can't do. Now, review my answer and see the difference between mine, and that of most iOS users. My answer is fact based and points out the differences in the two platforms, while Katy Perry comes up with some off the wall reasoning which completely lacks truth due to the fact that an answer like that one is an analogy based on opinion. The true staple of team iOS responses alike. For iOS users, please stop trying to justify your purchase of an overpaid device that does less with shallow based insults pointed in the direction of Android users. Maybe Android users don't like you're chosen product because it lacks in so many areas that to us a high-end Android product is the only reasonable choice, and to top it off, we have to read iOS advocate responses like the Katy
