Wireless is the future. And many wireless devices are way better than wired one.
In past phones had 8 or 16G and was enough and noone told even a tiny bit about and was particulary happy now people complain even if they have 1TB device.
Apple discharged SD cards since first apple phone and noone ever complains.

          We sell 9-12 machines in my company per year and it's far enough to pay the 45 workers/manager/director there. Because we just sell each machine a million dollars.

          Just because you aren't the target for this phone doesn't mean it's badly priced.

                All Sony needed to do is offer a flagship phone that rivals—not necessarily beats—Samsung's flagship in terms of specs and execution, while offering the SD card slot and 3.5mm jack that Samsung's lack, at marginally lesser price (or same price, at worst, not higher). Let's even leave the 4 major update promise aside, because I know that many wouldn't much for that, as most wouldn't even keep it in active usage beyond 3 years. The cost of adding the slot and jack wouldn't be more than $30. They found it more important to outfit a 4K display, something very few people would care much for in such a a display of the size. Seems Sony is content on not selling their phones. It's not like they even care to advertise or subsidize. Only a matter of time if they keep at this before we see another LG.

                    Even as much as I don't buy Sony phones, I'd like them to stay up. Saying that their strategy shouldn't be my concern is pretty myopic to say the least. I don't need to like you to wish you good living. And competition is always good for customers.

                        I simply countered the point made by the commenter.

                        Now, let me say it to you, too: until you could say how presense of SD slot and 3.5mm jack prevents you from using your preferred cloud and TWS, you have nothing coherent to say.

If you chose one phone over the other because of a variation of 50€ on a price of 1400, there is something definitively not logical here. If you want to save money, you buy a 300 or a 700€ phone.

                          Also I don't get why people ask about Sony's strategy when that's not even remotely their concern, people are just mad because they don't want to put this amount of money on this phone, but here the solution is pretty easy here: don't. Or do, if you want.
                          Sony's sales department is far more experienced than most of the people here about their product placement and the market they target, mainly because they have and know what their strategy is when most people here don't even have a clue because they are not part of this company management team, they just look at price and cry involving reason coming from nowhere. Lowering price is definitively not the solution to everything, especially in a highly competitive market.

                            Secondly, cloud is definitely costlier than micro SD card (I bought my 256GB Samsung Evo Plus U3 C10 for $32.8 in September last year, and it'd serve me for years. No cloud storage option costs less). Cloud is also slower. Speed of cloud depends largely on the internet speed of the user's service provider at his location, at any point in time. Where there's no/poor reception, cloud would be utterly useless or slower than the slowest possible micro SD card.

This is only your opinion. It isn't necessarily better for other people. If you doesn't need an SD card and prefer to use cloud storage, it's better to remove the SD card slot. You tried to defend the removal of a charger and cable which is indefensible.

                              Some people may prefer using cloud storage because it's convenient to access data from any device. If you have a phone and a tablet and want to share data on an SD card, it's less convenient than simply accessing data from cloud storage.
