iPods are great, you can just tape it to a 4G dumb phone with hotspot and use it as normal smarthphone! O3o

Time for a 200$ iPhone in the form factor of the iPhone SE 2016 with A15 Bionic. Battery life would be similar or better than iPhone SE 2020.

Sad news. These have been the go to mobile devices for both my boys before being ready for full on smartphones.
A unique category of device that unfortunately seems to now be at an end......

this is sad. I was hoping Apple updates this with modern powerful hardware like the iPhone SE for me as a cheap alternative than getting an iPhone since it is easy to carry another phone or device as a hotspot.
iPod touch could also act as an Apple small tablet for kids.

Still have my ipod touch 3rd gen, just the battery depleted quickly. Ipod was not the best audio (sound quality) player but its very simple to use.

I only knew apple when I saw the touch with my uncle, who then out of nowhere gave it to me.
I never knew a device could have such big screen, a touch screen (and a proper one) and knows when I tilt it! It was a marvel of a device and I might have been the first to0 get it in Saudi (Uncle brought it at launch from China). People everywhere wanted to know what that thing was and got looks and pointing. I couldn't leave it for a minute. (people always made fun of me sticking to me device but now everyone does with how many smart devices they are, EXCEPT me -_-) Then got the 4G then the iPhone 4G (one of the best phones ever) and probably the last time I believed in apple.
I did not know the iPod was only stopped now, I thought it was long gone. Awh now I wish I got one just for old time's sake.

It is an embarrassing device, especially in 2022.
There are like zero features that competition does not do significantly better ... oh, wait, competition does not have "Apple M1" chip in MP3 player - that's the only "pro" of iPod.

With that happening, I think iOS's market share lost a million, and Android's market share increased, because of how much the devices are.

Well today there isn't any point for parents to buy an iPod over a cheap phone, but people from 10 years ago used to call/text more often than today, and kids weren't responsible enough for that. While the iPod (touch) was meant to play music, we mostly used our iPods to play games, and that was the best part about owning one. Man, COD:WAW zombies was still one of the best games I played on my iPod. Will miss that game.
