Anonymous, 11 May 2022what??? if you buy an iPod, you're not gonna expect &q... moreWhat the person means is that iPod like iPhone sound rather poor in quality compare to a high resolution audio player, even at this price range at USD 300, there are really good high resolution audio player which will blow iPod or even iPhone, but you can't use apps or even play video, just pure music, then you have flagship at USD 3000 which are a completely different level and blow your mind with audiophile sound, the scale of layering, soundstaging, individual instruments is unbelievable

Before getting the first generation iPhone, I bought a first generation iPod touch at the end of July 2008. That was my first experience with iPhone OS. That was also the first device that got me into retro gaming emulation. Then my PSP phat. But emulation was still pretty bad for even NES and SNES games circa 2008-2010.
I eventually got an iPhone 2G by November 2008 as a hand-me-down, so owning an iPod touch felt redundant. The multimedia player I always wanted to own was the Zune HD in 2009. The Metro UI on that look amazing. But to be fair, that iPod touch was still superior because it was basically an iPhone without call functionality/SIM slot. It was more versatile once jailbroken.
I won't really miss the iPod. Owned a 5th gen iPod video I used constantly for nearly 2 years before it stopped working after it dropped really badly on hard floor once. But iPod was the product that resurrected Apple. Never forgot walking through Times Square in Memorial Day weekend 2005 and iPod mini ads were everywhere. The iPod brainwashing even happened in a Christmas episode for The Office that same year.

Spend extra and buy a hifi portable player and a decent in ear monitor. You will get ultra clean and very powerful sound. That is a real player and not ipod.

Only difference i understand in them is that ipod touch dont have phone feature and sim card so basically it's only a wifi device. And why would any parent give there child a device to play with when they are to young to have mobile phone function for them and never mind that children dont make a difference is it a ipod or a old phone without sim card just to play on them

Why would you go with some old iphone for it that also needs battery change as soon as you get it that takes more half or same amount you pay for the old iphone if they even have batteries for these old devices left. Also whats so good about the itunes over other similar programs like spotify or what ever you can use for listening music ? If you dont have internet connection you need them in mp3 on your phone anyways so it's not much different then the ipod touch

I had a feeling they were going to do that. I was trying to buy one for my son and daughter and it took a while to get them. I have a 256gb space gray that is two years old and has a 98% battery capacity. I also just recently bought a 256gb Silver. I use them for my car when I don thave my phone with me. My car has amazon music. If they ever update my car to play apple music, the ipod will be useless.

Era of pmp has ended officially. iPod touch was far better than most Android phones double its price minus cameras.best vfm apple product ever.

Dometalican, 10 May 2022Honestly, if Apple had jacked up the DAC, given it 1080p, l... moreI presume that the whole point is that Apple is getting rid of its legacy products with 3.5mm unbalanced to match it's entire line up, and more importantly, it does not sell much anyway, Apple never been about audiophile grade technology, why would it consider 2.5mm or even 4.4mm balanced output or other high bitrate Audio codec such as ldac or aptx hd.
At least there is a niche market for high resolution audio players from sony, astell and kern, ibasso, cayin, fiio which has audiophile grade dac, 4.4mm unbalanced, high bitrate wireless audio codec etc

Honestly, if Apple had jacked up the DAC, given it 1080p, loads of lossless Bluetooth codecs, 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB versions, bigger batteries at 5.5" size, stereo speakers, and an additional 2.5mm jack, they could have sold these as competition to the Walkman devices for audiophiles. This is especially considering Apple Music now has lossless audio with Dolby Atmos.
Either way, parting is such sweet sorrow. I used to own an iPod touch and it was a perfect music device at the time when I could only get a phone with like 32GB of storage overa decade and a half ago.
