Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 unveiled: 30% more efficient, 10% faster

20 May 2022
The new chip keeps the hardware effectively the same, but the new 4nm process allowed for higher clock speeds and lower power draw.

Anonymous, 21 May 2022Try not to make up random crap like that and spread it aroundIt's alright if you don't know what he is talking about but don't be a fool.He is right .All the flagship use the frame and screen to cool by heat dissipation not the back cuz brands know we will use cover and things and the only back portion which heats up is the place where processor lies.

This is actually an interesting read. So the power savings and efficiency improvements were from a foundry change. So it makes me think if TSMC actually made the Exynos chips instead of Samsung, would it have faired better against the Snap Dragon Chipsets in terms of power savings?

"...available in Q3 (July-September)". That can give OEM enough time to sort out the cooling technique for the chipset. Speaking of OEM, since Vivo and OnePlus are on the list, I'm guessing that the X80 Pro+ and 10 Ultra respectively will eventually happen. Also, I definitely cannot wait for the ASUS ROG Phone 6.

On the bright side, kids will not be playing with their phones for too long because of the heating issues that never solved or at least get looked into. Nice solution Qualcomm, but let me assure you that not a lot of parents might be thankful because that means they might have to interact with their own kids for a longer period of time.

I think at this chip manufacturers should concentrate efforts on reducing heat too not just increasing performance. as for performance wise yes should still continue to improve on it but it shouldn't be the main concern anymore as chip get more powerful its gets hotter too as more heats is being produced. what is the point of a super powerful chip but in the end phone manufacturers have to throttle the chip in its phone just to lower so it will heat up too much. one of worse culprit is samsung flagship - as some of its flagship has so much heats issues just taking video on the camera can the phone so hot it will randomly shut down. this shouldn't have happen as the camera function should be one of the least power hungry or require high performance. one thing have to admit apple chip in this sense is definitely superior to android chip. what apple probably understood was that a smartphone this small is impossible to have a pc level cooling solution so it also make sure that its chip doesn't overheats easily. example if the phone was use to play game continuously for 7 to 10 hours if the its get warm or slightly hot understandable but if it's being used to take a 10 minutes 4k video it heat up some much it will shut down the video taking or the phone then it's not acceptable. which is why chip manufacturers shouldn't just concentrate on performance as there is other issues that will make it high performance chip or not. (analogy- a Ferrari can drive up to 300mph for 10 minutes before shutting down its engine whereas a normal toyota can drive for at 120mph for 1000 kilometers without its engine shutting down. so who do you phone buyers will consider buying?

Different SoC requires firmware from zero. Time and money wasted.

I can't wait for the Asus RoG Phone 6 and hopefully a Sony Xperia 5 IV on SD8+G1. I would've gone for Dimensity 8100 or 9000 but I'm disappointed with a lack of a headphone jack. Is LTPO OLED, excellent rated stereo speakers, monster battery life, flagship chipset, great camera and headphone jack on one phone for $600 - $800 too much to ask?

Rly, 20 May 2022Errr, samsung is not that good making chip for smartphones,... moreThere a difference between not being good at making chips and their exynos specifically not being as good as it used to. Which is poor design choice and upper management demand of illogical clocks/thermals. Chasing benchmarks.
                            Huge difference. Learn to logic.

nice, 20 May 2022Users readgin these news which are stuck with Exynos in Europe 😀👍Both chip suck in some ways and should not be sold for such high prices anymore, its like beta versions.
In 3 month i bought S22 ultra 2 times. 1 Exynos version and 1 Qualcomm version. Both i returned again, sad enough, i rly wanted a Samsung "Note" phone again. But i dont want a brand new phones which works like a beta version. Lagg, worst battery life i ever had, flickering display etc.
Honesty, i could rly feel big difference on those 2 chips, SD was much more effective, faster etc vs trash Exynos.

But we are the dumb ones, just buying their quick made beta phones, with lots of fault in.

I never had a mid or low ranger phone and never thought i even should consider buying one. Now i consider to buy a good midranger, but still hope i soon can get the mediatek 9000 in a Vivo X80 pro or something like that.

So untill this, i still have my Mi 11 ultra with stable eu rom and my beloved mate 20x (my second mste 20x). M20X actually still rocks and kick aasshh and with nearly 2 days battery 💪🏻. Kirin chip is rock stable, but nerly dead now, since the dsy US banned Huawei, the Kirin chip got kilked we know and sice this dsy, Qualcomm chip was/is getting worse anf worse step by step each year.
Hopefully Mediatek can be the big competitor to Qualcomm, so they put them self together and start making good chips again.

Its nice, finally to see so many people in here, getting tired of Qualcomm and all their promises.
Only language they understand is, if we dont buy phones with their chip.

Last 1-2 years it getting worse then ever. Battery life suck big time, heat problems etc etc.
Many phones feels like beta software from the first day you bought a phones.

If we buy a tv, a car etc etc etc, we want it to work 100%, but with a phone. Many people just say, they will correct the software and release some updates, eeerrrrr. They need to wait with the release until they can sell us a stable one.

                                Enough must be enough now.
