Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 unveiled: 30% more efficient, 10% faster

20 May 2022
The new chip keeps the hardware effectively the same, but the new 4nm process allowed for higher clock speeds and lower power draw.

Sort by:

"Prime core at 3.2GHz, Gold cores at 2.75Ghz, Silver cores at 2.0GHz. This is up from 3.0GHz, 2.5GHz and 1.8GHz, respectively."

The frequency increase is so random, that the improvements in efficiency and speed must be a chip redesign. The X Cores are terribly energy inefficient anyway, and probably the ones causing the most overheating issues.

OEMs could have better results with better heat management. Maybe the new clock rates and redesign wasn't needed.
