Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 unveiled: 30% more efficient, 10% faster

20 May 2022
The new chip keeps the hardware effectively the same, but the new 4nm process allowed for higher clock speeds and lower power draw.

What a pile of crap...promises and more promises on paper and when we use it daily, it's just bad, either overheats or throttles the performance. Better to leave the big words and just give us something balanced

Hope this pumped up power would be enough to emulate windows apps, this time.

30% improvement in the lab tests, also known as 3% improvement in real life.

Let's be honest here, this will be basically an overclocked 8 gen1 (which was basically an overclocked 888 (which was basically an overclocked 870 (which was basically an overclocked 865)))

Is more efficient yes, but not in the way you guys were looking for.

              Wait......they prioritiesed efficiency over power?

That's actually cleaver for once, like phone chipsets for flagships are so fast now that there is basically no difference, we are at the point where efficiency should be main priority, not flat out performance.

jamalu96, 20 May 2022which asus model has sd gen 1 plus soc?None, the top brands will pass it. We will never see a S22U with + variant. :[

What about the heat? 50% more?

How about battery consumption? How about temperatures? Speed isn't everything

LOL so it really is because of samsungs fab process that was lacking. But at this point of the year, might as well wait for the 8g2 instead. Already waited long enough, a few more waits won't hurt.

Why on earth increase the frequency? Which app or game will benefit from 200MHz more?!! They should focus on keeping it cool for constant performance and longer battery life, not increasing frequency whenever they can!

Now I'm forced to get a phone with bootloader unlockable just to tune down the frequency and make it last longer per charge. Or might as well wait for that efficient dreamsity 8100 to happen one day (if it ever happens and gets out of China).

IpsDisplay, 20 May 2022If you don't think even the 8100 isn't a snap 888... moreYeah, they said that for Dimensity 1000 already. Not to mention they are almost impossible to find in actual devices to begin with. It's just Helio G series all over the place even now. Also I don't understand half of your post because the sentence is an absolute mess.
