30 May 2022
iOS 16 should also improve Apple Health, messages and bring lock screen wallpapers with widget-like functionality.

Both Apple and Android fanboys down here are really sad to be honest. Touch some grass man

Anonymous, 30 May 2022"even though you'd have to own 10 different phone... moreOnePlus 😅 I can pretty much right away say that no amount of features can fix the crappy cameras OnePlus have, especially the old ones.

This just proves sshock point. You need another phone to add great camera. Then add another phone to add this and this.

Never much cared for always on displays, mainly because I’m not always looking at my displays.

Used to be the first thing I turned off on any androids I had with it, likely will be the same on an iPhone.

That's what you think but that's not true. My OnePlus has all the features in one phone. And from those, many are still absent in iPhones even today. And let me tell you, that my OnePlus is years old now and still has several more features than an iPhone of today. The processor is old but that doesn't matter because the OS is far better

blue, 30 May 2022You were talking about a certain feature on your crappy XR,... moreYep. Android smartphones had such a feature since long ago. Companies called them with different names or anything as they liked to. Moto for example called it Moto Display. It was not really AOD, but it set the stage for AOD to follow in the LED display phones after a few years. And even before that, it was Daydream that was kind of similar to Ambient Display. It showed time and possibly some notifications while the phone was charging. Some phones with Android One program still have that feature present. My Nokia for example. That lame iPhone XR person really has no clue LOL

Every device have it pros and cons and it’s up to everyone choose the best choice. Only sad part here is you, why you care so much abou other people choices? 😅 Clearly only one who is crying is you. Why so insecure about your phone?

You know Android phones have lot of cons and and that’s why Android flagship phones sells so poorly nowdays.

Anonymous, 30 May 2022"At least I don't have to buy new phone every 2 y... moreAh yes, the usual use of collective features of all the Android phones in existence that you'll bunch up together and present it as "Android magic", even though you'd have to own 10 different phones to actually have all those features at the same time. What good is if Samsung has 3 unique features and Oppo has another 3 and Xiaomi has 2 unique features. You can't brag with that as "Android has those features". You can only brag about that when it's present on every single Android smartphone without exception. Then it's an Android feature that's present on all Android phones. Which stands true on iPhones, because there is just one "edition" of iOS.

SShock, 30 May 2022Oh really? Then what I've seen on Samsung Galaxy A52s ... moreYou were talking about a certain feature on your crappy XR, which needs some interaction to display something. That's not AOD.
The rest of your blabbering is based on lack of knowledge...

Anonymous, 30 May 2022Technically AOD is possible on devices with LED screen. And... moreAt no point I ever said my XR can do AOD lmao. I just said it has the tap to wake which bunch of phones have for AOD and I can't think of a reason why that even exists when you can just wake whole display at that point where it doesn't matter what it is, LCD or OLED. Also yes, refresh rate does matter for AOD. All the cheap phones that aren't using LTPO or LTPO 2.0 displays use fixed refresh rate and I tell you, running AOD at 60Hz is energy suicide. Even if you're actually displaying just 50 pixels for the digital time. You're still refreshing entire screen 60 times a second, you're just actually displaying few pixels on it. I also very much doubt any chipset that's not as custom as Apple's Bionic won't even be able to so efficiently run in the background firing display pixels while not really having to flex much. But needs to be active and I bet A16 will have a special dedicated logic that will elevate the thing above any AOD used by any other company. Just because they can do something most others simply can't. Maybe Samsung, but they are struggling with Exynos as is...

SShock, 30 May 2022Oh really? Then what I've seen on Samsung Galaxy A52s ... moreTechnically AOD is possible on devices with LED screen. And no, your iPhone XR with LCD can't do that. And also, it doesn't matter what hz does it render AOD at, as long as it have the feature. Android phones have far bigger batteries to make it usable even with higher battery drain. Talking of hz, what about iPhone 13 still coming with just a lame 60 hz in 2022 ? If your almighty Apple is that good then why there is still no AOD on iPhones ? Forget that, there's not even a high refresh rate on the 13

                            Innovation

blue, 30 May 2022That's not AOD you're talking about... but OK, yo... moreOh really? Then what I've seen on Samsung Galaxy A52s wasn't AOD even though Samsung literally calls it exactly that? Or Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G that also has Always on Display (and it's called AOD not something else). Both have static refresh rate at 60Hz or higher one, no variable. Using AOD is terrible on such devices and it's not called "ambient display" or whatever. Uh oh iFan and I end up knowing more about Android devices than you. Heh. Only reason these don't absolutely stink with AOD is large battery, but even rate of 2% per hour is horrible. That's 12% in 6 hours. We're talking 12% EXTRA on top of what it drains by itself already. Again, only saved by the fact they run relatively low power chipsets with large battery.

Daany, 30 May 2022People seem to greatly under appreciate Motorola's app... moreI know what you're talking about because of having used several Moto phones. The Moto display feature was present on their phones since long ago along with other display centric features. My flagship moto phones even have the IR sensors to detect when a user waves hand over the screen to show notifications. Sometimes it even works from a distance and as I enter the room it wakes up the display to briefly turn on and show notifications. It even has Moto voice that will not only wake the display up but also read out notifications. Moto voice can even set alarms and open apps and do a lot more just with voice, and without internet connection. Moto phones have these great features from long ago. And still they have a lot many handy features like twist phone to open camera and that chop one for flashlight. There are several other features on moto phones accessible via Moto app that comes pre installed. It's a very good feature set present on moto phones. Currently have a moto as a daily driver and its one of the best ever phones I had, only matched by my oneplus in terms of features
