SShock, 01 Jun 2022Uuum, the fact they put it on TSMC node means they optimize... more1. It was referring to software optimization. Many people claim sd888 and 8 gen 1 overheat because manufacturers couldn't optimize their software to suit the CPU. This isn't true because of reasons already mentioned. Look at complaints regarding Exynos variants of S series vs TSMC SD variants.
2. Of course you need to make sure the design is fit for to production process. However that's never an excuse because sd888 and 8g1 was designed to be manufactured by Samsung in the first place. It's not as if they were designed for TSMC then suddenly Qualcomm had to quickly redesign them for Samsung as you make it sound like!
3. Anyways, this means the fault of limitation comes down to Samsung, as their production process doesn't support more efficient design. In the end they charge us more every year for newer devices, even if it's less efficient, so the limitation becomes a fault and not excusable.
4. That doesn't take away the fact that Dimensity 9000 is more efficient than any Samsung made chips. Same goes with the newly released 8+ gen 1.
5. Don't understand what you mean when you say they shouldn't be compared? If you don't compare them then how do you know which one to buy? Should two or more similarly priced cars not be compared before you buy?

imagine if google will not use the custom core {Cortex x1/ x2} to avoid overheating and only use ARMv9 {A710 & A510}, can the performance compete?

if google produces its chips with samsung, then they won't be good. it is not a coinsidence that qualcomm moved away from samsung to tsmc for the snapdragon 8+ gen 1. it is known that tsmc's production process makes the chips more efficient with less power consumption.

Point against, now we just need to see if the panel will be the same or they will mount a totally flat one, if I continue with that absurd fashion of curved panel, I will sell my pixel 6 pro and go to iOS or with the Xperia pro 2 that for sure is on the way

Anonymous, 01 Jun 2022iPhone SE 2022 is cheaper, faster and last longer. The original design was also released in 2014. The screen to body ratio is awful. It's not even 1080p XD what a joke. I'm not really sure what your point is. Apple took an old phone and put their current chip in it. Cool I guess. If you like iOS and old phones. I personally don't so this phone is literally a joke to me.

AnonD-546724, 01 Jun 2022Google should have pick TSMC. Samsung foundries are the... moreWith Samsung they could pick already produced cores essentially off the shelf and use their expertise to integrate Google specifics. Samsung is both a chip designer and a fab. TSMC is specifically a fab. Google would have needed an additional partner or a much longer lead time to use TSMC.
