You all can see that the 1" is the pixel area only. Then you have the frame.
Add some connectors to it as well.
This is why there are limits to what phones can fit inside. Whole cam system takes huge space. To house all this probably xiaomi may sacrifice something like avoid larger battery or Qi charging coil.
Anyway, rumors say this device will not make outside China. Seems plausible since 12 Pro is sold in Europe for €1200-1300.
And this one would never be there below €1500. I doubt xiaomi would like to have something priced this price.

These users are recommending purchasers to not update the system. They don't say how its degraded but its not just isolated comments. There are quite a few. I was considering buying this or the Xiaomi 12 as the price was similar during the recent massive 618 sale in China so I went through hundreds of consumer reviews. In the end I bought the Xiaomi 12 as the Xiaomi 11 ultra is a bit too bulky for me. I think this is quite a common practice though from many brands as i've seen this type of comment for other brands too.

With this sensor and Leica lenses, I have high hopes for this phone in the camera department, let's see if it can live up to the hype.

If those people aren't showing proof to support their claims, it might be just that they are having mass hysteria because they are feeling insecure as the new flagship is getting released but now with a Leica branding. It would be really nice if you could post a few sample photos that demonstrate their point.

The pics when I bought the phone were on par and I dare say even better than redmi note 10 pro (less noise, good colors) but they degraded it so RN 10 pro camera samples look good.
On the other hand Samsung A71 with same imx sensor is still on par.
Same with gaming performance, in PUBG with gfx tools i could get 75-85 fps in TDM mode but now even 40fps has severe frame dips.
Just like they degraded performance of Mi 10T so Poco F3 has advantage.

I guess Smartphone Imaging will substantially improve, once the 2-Layer Transistor Pixel technology makes it to smartphone cameras. That should double light gathering and increasing base dynamic range noticeably. Also, with improvements in HDR like the Triple Smart-ISO on new Samsung Image Sensors, we may finally see tint image sensors start producing imaging worthy of professional cameras.

As expected. Thats what happens when Leica involved in quality control. They always sticks to Sony sensors (both their actual camera & phones). Previously all Huawei (including Sharp) with Leica branding using Sony's IMX. Maybe their image algorithm only with Sony sensors.

Feel a bit sorry for original users of the Xiaomi 11 ultra in China. Many have reported that the camera performance has degraded with recent updates on the Chinese software. This is probably due to the new model as most big Chinese reviewers who get millions of views will compare this new model to the Xiaomi 11 ultra and Xiaomi want it to look better than the Xiaomi 11 ultra. In reality the image quality on the mi 11 ultra was already very good (before the negative optimisation). The new model is unlikely to offer much improvement and may be actually worse on launch as it is a new sensor which will take time to optimise. That may be the reason why Xiaomi is negatively optimising the Xiaomi 11 ultra. They aren't the only brand to do this in China unfortunately. Interestingly they announced that they haven't sent this to dxomark like they normally do (or else they did send it but it didn't take the top position so they don't want to release the score).
