About 95% of Symbian users sideloaded app. I don't think I should even call it sideloading, because OVI (Nokia) store came much later (around 2009), and, even then, had low number of apps.

          Good ol' days! ☺

So if you use iOS they can still hack you and infact iOS is more targeted because it's more widely used by famous and afluent personalities. Then Apple still denies you from installing whatever software you want. It's a joke.

I've been sideloading for years and have never once had a problem. The moral of the story is do your research. There are plenty of other things outside of tech that if you don't use protection or know what you are getting into can get you messed up just the same. Just be smart about it. IDK why they try to make it sound like because it's possible to get malware you shouldn't have the option to load your own software. People get malware on iOS AND they can't load their own software XD.

Meanwhile, most online bank account hacks from smartphone users are mostly done on, guess what? Android! Even hacks on mobile games can only be performed mostly for Android devices and not with iOS (i.e. most map-hackers in certain mobile games are all using Android phones, and rarely, if there even is one, are iOS users).

Downloading apps outside your device official store is always a risk (something iOS will gladly refuse) so anyone that does it should be ready to face the consequences

I cant belive you guys still buying that unprotected thing. Who protects you? From what? And whoever protects you what's their benefit of doing so? I never ever had a security problem on any of my devices. Cmonnnn yes there're many malicious apps for sure, im not gonna deny it. But it's so obvious to anyone who has skill to download and install anything 3rd party. Also belive it or not, play protect works on rooted phones too. My reason for being rooted is as simple as can be. I need control over my clocks temps (s21 ultra oven) and for modding apps that require monthly subscription for what it should be free. Only paid service on my phone is Netflix. Also, you install blokada and scams just go away in 90% of cases .
